My Ideal Client

You’ve reached a point where something is no longer working. You may not know what you need, only that you need "help." If current ways of being no longer suffice, I’m here when you’re ready for the deeper questions of what it means to be alive.

My Approach to Helping

My work is rooted in Existential-Humanistic and Relational therapy. I don't sit back as a blank, distant observer. I show up as a fellow human to meet you exactly where you are—in the fog, the frustration, or the descent. While we will address the symptoms that brought you here, we won’t stop there. We will look at the architecture of your life: the patterns you’ve inherited, the stories that limit you, and the "signals" your anxiety or sadness are trying to send. My role is to offer a steady, unflinching presence as we navigate these depths together. Whether we are navigating the volatility of the teen years, the complexities of a partnership, or an individual search for purpose, our work centers on the transition from reaction to agency. We work to reclaim your ability to choose and to author a narrative that finally feels like your own.

My Values as a Therapist

Though helpful for some, I don't subscribe to the 'mysterious expert' model of therapy. If I have a thought, a clinical observation, or a reaction to what's happening in the room—I share it. I value an honest, level playing field where we can both be human. I am not afraid of the dark. Whether we are discussing identity, sitting in grief, or pondering the existential questions that keep you up at night, I'll stay in it with you. I value the courage it takes to look at all of the parts of our lives. My value is not in making you behave "better" or in a certain way to fit into a societal mold. I value your autonomy and authenticity. My job isn't to tell you which path to take through the canyon, but to make sure you have the clarity and equipment to choose the path for yourself. I believe that I am as much a part of the human struggle as you are. I don't sit on a pedestal. I don't gatekeep feelings. I sit in the dirt with you. I value the relationship as the primary tool for healing.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Existential External link

While fundamentally guided by the existential pillars—freedom, meaning, isolation, and mortality—I apply these concepts practically. My expertise lies in helping clients move beyond the "why" of their suffering toward an intentional "how" of living. I view our work as a partnership focused on reclaiming agency in the face of life’s magnitude.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

I utilized CBT extensively throughout my clinical practicum to provide clients with immediate, tangible tools for navigating distress. I approach CBT not as a way to "fix" thoughts, but as a method for deconstructing the reactive loops that keep us stuck. It serves as the practical scaffolding that allows for deeper existential exploration and behavioral change.

  • Relational  External link

My clinical focus is rooted in the "relational" aspect of my Marriage and Family Therapy training. I specialize in the space between people, treating the therapeutic relationship as a live laboratory. This approach is particularly effective for those feeling untethered in their connections or struggling with the transition from reaction to intention.

  • Narrative  External link

I incorporate Narrative interventions to help clients "externalize" the problems that feel like part of their identity. By examining the stories you’ve inherited—from family, culture, or military service—we work to re-author a narrative that aligns with your current values. This is key for clients navigating "the descent" of major life transitions.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Veterans/Military Service External link

The transition from the structured world of service to the unknown of civilian life is often a profound descent. I work with veterans and service members navigating the loss of mission, identity shifts, and the feeling of being "untethered" in a world that doesn't speak the same language. We don’t just manage the fallout; we face the deeper existential questions of purpose and agency, working together to author a new narrative that honors your history while reclaiming your future.

  • Personal Growth External link

This isn’t about self-improvement; it’s about authorship. I work with individuals who feel their current life map no longer matches the terrain. We treat this untethered feeling as a signal to move toward deeper agency. By facing questions of freedom, responsibility, and purpose, we work to transform the descent into an opportunity of significant self-discovery.

  • Loss or Grief External link

Grief is not a problem to be solved, but a landscape to be navigated. I offer a steady, unflinching presence for those in the thick of the unknown following a loss. My approach honors the weight of what has been lost while creating the space necessary to eventually find meaning and a way to carry absence with intention. There is no prescribed timeline for this.

  • Anxiety External link

I view anxiety not as a defect, but as a signal—often an existential one. Rather than simply trying to quiet the symptoms, we look at what anxiety is saying about your relationship to freedom, choice, and the unknown. We work to build the gear necessary to face life's uncertainties without being paralyzed by them. This isn't toxic-positivity rebranded; this is the capacity to navigate the magnitude of what it means to be human with intention.
