My Approach

I specialize in working with people experiencing anxiety and depression. However, I see clients with a wide variety of difficulties, including relationship concerns, self-esteem and shame, and trauma. Additionally, I often see clients with a diverse range of sexual orientations and gender identities, and with clients in non-monogamous relationships. I work from psychodynamic and humanistic perspectives. This means that I will help you explore the ways your past experiences and relationships may affect your current ones, allowing you to change the patterns in your life that are not working for you. Additionally, I will work with you as a whole and multifaceted person with all of your challenges, strengths, and complexities. I also help clients learn cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness skills as a supplement to the other work we do in therapy. These techniques can help you feel better quickly and may have powerful, positive ripple effects in other parts of your life.

My Background

I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from Pacific University and completed my postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have practiced both research and therapy with a variety of clients in university and community clinics in Oregon and Illinois. By seeking therapy, you are already taking a courageous first step towards better living. Please contact me with any questions you have about my practice, or to request a free phone consultation to find out if therapy with me is a good fit for you.
