My Ideal Client

Do you find yourself holding a lot together for others while feeling anxious, stuck, or disconnected from yourself? You may be navigating grief, relationship stress, identity questions, or a major life transition. Perhaps old patterns keep resurfacing despite your efforts to change them. Therapy can offer space to explore how family, culture, relationships, and past experiences have shaped you—and what you want to carry forward.

My Approach to Helping

I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, understood, and safe enough to be honest about what is happening in your life. I approach therapy collaboratively, with curiosity about the relationships, family roles, culture, identity, and past experiences that have shaped you. My perspective is informed not only by clinical training but also by my lived experience as a multi-ethnic Filipina, a parent, growing up as a Navy kid, and creative person navigating the intersections of culture, identity, belonging, and self-expression. Filipino Psychology, with its emphasis on shared humanity, relationships, and community, also influences my work. I draw from relational, psychodynamic, narrative, CBT, mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches while helping you build practical ways to manage anxiety, grief, stress, and life transitions. As a board-certified and Oregon-licensed music therapist, I can also incorporate music and creative approaches when they feel meaningful to you.

Why I am a Good Fit for You

I may be a good fit for you if you are navigating parenthood, changes in relationships, questions of identity or belonging, grief, hospice or end-of-life experiences, or simply trying to understand yourself during a season of change. I also enjoy working with creative people who may experience or express themselves in ways that do not always fit neatly into words. I became a counselor because I have always been drawn to people’s stories and the experiences that shape who we become. My background in music therapy reinforced my belief that healing can happen through reflection, relationship, creativity, and meaningful connection. I tend to work well with people who want both deeper insight and practical support. You do not have to separate your emotions from your culture, family, identity, creativity, or relationships here. I value authenticity, curiosity, humor, and compassion, and I hope to create a space where you can show up as your whole self.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

I use CBT to help clients notice unhelpful thought patterns, understand how thoughts affect emotions and behavior, and build practical skills for responding differently.

  • Relational  External link

I use relational therapy to explore how connection, past relationships, and interpersonal patterns shape how clients relate to themselves and others, with the therapeutic relationship as part of the healing process.

  • Solution Focused Brief Therapy External link

I use solution-focused brief therapy to help clients identify strengths, build on what is already working, and take practical steps toward meaningful change.

  • Psychodynamic  External link

I use psychodynamic therapy to explore how past experiences and relationships shape present-day patterns, emotions, and beliefs, helping clients gain insight and create meaningful change.

  • Motivational Interviewing External link

I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore ambivalence, clarify their values, and strengthen their own motivation for change. I integrate a collaborative, nonjudgmental approach that respects client autonomy and supports meaningful, self-directed goals.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

I help clients understand the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that contribute to anxiety while building practical tools for feeling more grounded and in control.

  • Adjustment Disorder External link

I can support you during major changes such as divorce, career shifts, caregiving, relocation, relationship changes, or other periods when life feels unsettled or difficult to navigate.

  • Loss or Grief External link

Support for death, relationship loss, identity shifts, and other experiences that involve grieving what has changed, ended, or did not happen as hoped. I have experience as a hospice music therapist.

  • Racial Identity External link

Being multiethnic, I have lived experience moving between different cultures. We can explore culture, race, ethnicity, belonging, family expectations, intergenerational experiences, and how these shape identity and relationships.

  • Cultural and Systemic Oppression External link

Supporting clients as they explore how culture, race, identity, discrimination, family expectations, and larger social systems affect their well-being and sense of self.
