My Ideal Client

I specialize in supporting teens, young adults, and parents, helping them navigate life’s ups and downs. My approach is LGBTQ+ affirming and grounded in anti-oppressive practices, so you can show up as your true self. I help people heal and recover from a variety of issues including trauma, anxiety, and grief/loss. Whether you’re exploring who you are, how to feel stronger, or how to deal with adversity, I’m here to help you figure it out in a way that works for you.

My Approach to Helping

My counseling style is built on trust, engagement and relationships. First, we’ll get to know each other and talk about what’s happening and what you’re hoping to change. From there, we’ll come up with a plan together to unlock what’s holding you back and how to move forward. I use a mix of different tools and techniques to help, like systems work, mindfulness, rewriting your story, understanding and rewiring your nervous system, and pulling from your strengths. I also apply theories including ACT, DBT, IFS, and MI to make sure what we’re doing feels impactful. I have been licensed in Oregon since 2003 and have my MSW from Smith College in Northampton, MA. I am also licensed in WA and NY, offering individual and group therapy as well as clinical supervision.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am also a parent to two teenagers myself, have lived overseas with my family in Finland for several years, and have a big love of the outdoors, travel, live music, yoga, biking, and the arts. I incorporate wisdom from my yoga teacher background as well as my 20+years working as a high school social worker. I believe in social justice and the power of a strong community to heal people’s minds and hearts.

    I have run therapy groups for teens recovering from trauma/abuse, grief/loss and in need of emotion regulation support for over 20 years. I incorporate wisdom from my yoga teacher training to help clients retrain their nervous systems.
