My Ideal Client

Most of my clients come from diverse populations and are committed to pursuing a life based on their values, rather than what society defines for them. My clients like to take an active role in their healing process, are open to creative interventions.

My Approach to Helping

As each client is unique, I use a variety of skills and techniques to meet my clients' needs in the way that feels comfortable and empowering for them. My tendency is towards experiential methods, which can include incorporating somatic work and expressive arts therapies in addition to traditional talk therapy. My theoretical orientation draws largely from acceptance and commitment therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, somatic experiencing, and anti-oppressive counseling. I have specialized training in trauma, sex therapy, and expressive arts therapies

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am an active member in queer communities, kink communities, and polyamorous communities. I am involved in work supporting transgender rights. I am also a part of the theatre community, focusing on uplifting/telling stories through the lens of trans, queer, female, fat, disabled, older, and BIPOC actors, and exploring issues of oppression with young people. As a university professor and community educator, I work to train and equip counselors in better serving diverse communities.
