My Ideal Client

My work focuses on helping individuals heal from trauma and navigate the complex relationship between mental health and substance use. Many of the people I work with feel stuck in trauma—replaying the past, reacting in ways they don’t fully understand, or feeling hijacked by anxiety, shutdown, anger, or emotional overwhelm. You might notice yourself turning to substances, overworking, numbing out, or other coping strategies just to get through the day—even if they no longer feel helpful.

My Approach to Helping

Therapy with me focuses on understanding why these patterns exist, not judging or forcing change. Using EMDR and trauma-informed talk therapy, I help clients process unresolved experiences, reduce intense nervous system responses, and build safer, more sustainable ways to cope—without taking away what’s helped you survive. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and paced to your nervous system. The goal isn’t to relive trauma, but to help your body and mind feel more regulated, present, and in control so you can move forward with greater clarity and calm.

Why I Became a Therapist

I became interested in mental health and becoming a mental health provider after my own struggles and experiences with anxiety, depression, and difficult life stressors. I have had wonderful mental health therapists in my life and was inspired by their work and how they have helped me navigate difficult times. Right after graduating with my undergraduate degree, I knew I wanted to pursue Master's Degree in social work, with a concentration in mental health. Since receiving my MSW, I have worked in a variety of settings, including residential, mobile crisis team, police, hospital emergency rooms, community mental health, and now focusing on my private practice.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • EMDR External link

I’m experienced in using EMDR to help clients process trauma and distressing experiences that continue to affect them today. My work is grounded in a nervous-system-informed approach, allowing EMDR to be paced thoughtfully and tailored to each client’s needs.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

I use CBT to help clients understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact—especially when anxiety or trauma patterns feel stuck. I integrate CBT in a flexible, real-world way that supports insight while still honoring the body’s role in healing.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) External link

I use IFS to help clients understand and work compassionately with different parts of themselves—especially parts shaped by trauma. This approach supports healing by reducing inner conflict, increasing self-understanding, and building a sense of safety and balance.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • PTSD External link

I help adults experiencing PTSD and trauma, including complex trauma. My work focuses on helping your nervous system feel safer, reducing trauma symptoms, and processing past experiences in a way that feels supportive and paced. Approaches may include EMDR and other trauma-informed methods.

  • Drug Dependence / Abuse / Addiction External link

I work with adults who use substances to cope with stress, trauma, or overwhelming emotions. My approach is nonjudgmental and trauma-informed, focusing on understanding patterns, reducing shame, and building healthier ways to cope—whether your goal is reduction, change, or recovery.

  • Anxiety External link

I support adults dealing with anxiety, chronic stress, and feeling constantly on edge. Rather than just managing symptoms, we look at how your nervous system learned to stay in survival mode and work toward more calm, clarity, and confidence in daily life.
