My Ideal Client

The clients I work best with are ready to take an attitude of curiosity and reflection towards the patterns and beliefs that no longer serve them. They may be experiencing depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, or relationship stress and are hoping to relate to emotions in a healthier way or gain new self-perspective. Whether it is your first time in therapy or are returning to address matters from a new light, I believe in the innate wisdom of each person and approach our work humbly.

My Approach to Helping

I work with folks from a variety of therapeutic disciplines so that we can tailor your needs and goals for the best fit and outcomes. My practice philosophy is rooted in relational, somatic, and systemic frameworks. I view the therapeutic relationship as a powerful space for healing and change that honors safety, authenticity, and collaboration. I feel that the systems of capitalism, oppression, and separation lead many to feel "not enough" and alone. My work in therapy looks to dismantle the forces that are keeping individuals from living their best life as defined by them. Through a nonjudgmental, balanced, and regulated presence, I try my best to be your advocate, safe space, and collaborator.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Through my personal experiences of meditation retreats, plant medicine, and holistic healing, I believe that well-being is an interconnected experience between the mind, body, and spirit. I believe that difficult emotions and experiences are an unavoidable part of life, but that we can make the most change in our relationship to these feelings. I too have struggled with my own mental health but can testify to the value of a supportive and attuned therapist in navigating this journey of life we are all on. I find relief, meaning, and connection through nature by trail running, surfing, and snowboarding. I also find my flow state with playing guitar and making stained glass art.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

I have specialized training in Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) which is a mindfulness-based therapeutic practice that encourages you to identify what values are personally important and to take action on those values. ACT encourages acceptance of what is out of our personal control, while developing a flexibility to alter the things we can. I encourage client to find what their meaningful life is and support them in creating more opportunities to experience it in a significant way.

  • EcoTherapy External link

Having worked for three years in nature-based therapy, I have seen how this therapeutic practice can have a positive impact on both the body and the mind. Scientific studies have shown that experiences in natural settings (like a walk in a beautiful forest outside) can have a positive effect on individuals suffering from stress, anxiety and depression. This approach integrates the knowledge that we are not separate beings from the natural world, but an integral part of a greater system.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety is one of the most studied and treatable experiences in the mental health sphere. I work with people's fears and worries to change how it impairs yours relationships, sense of happiness, or decision-making. Using CBT, ACT, and practical coping strategies, we'll identify your anxiety triggers, understand the thought patterns that fuel your worry, and develop tools to manage symptoms effectively.

  • Men's Issues External link

Having worked with men ranging from young adolescents to grown adults, I recognize the inherent tension in the role men occupy. Through exploring a man's relationship to 'fixing', emotional expression, and anger we can act and feel in a way that not only benefits us, but the people we are surrounded by.
