My Ideal Client

Have you diligently worked to create a life that thrives, but still feel stuck by childhood or continuing harm? Often the coping strategies we form survive past their "effectiveness date," creating an invisible force that holds us back from thriving on this journey we call life. In session, we will create a space for you to explore your past, your present, and your hopes for the future. We will hold both harm and healing, as we create a map for the journey towards freedom and thriving.

My Approach to Helping

Perhaps you've heard that understanding comes from walking a mile in that person's shoes. I've come to believe that true understanding comes from walking 'a mile' WITH them. Your journey has been filled with a variety of difficult events (and likely many moments of joy), leading you to the place you now find yourself. As we journey together, I bring an understanding and appreciation for your strengths, enabling a kind and caring discussion of where course correction may free you to thrive. I utilize elements from DBT, ACT, and Psychodynamic psychology mixed with beautiful influences from Narrative, multicultural, and person-centered modalities. I maintain an awareness for where systemic influences are asserting pressure, especially within the therapeutic alliance. Additionally, I offer Lifespan Integration.

Why I Became a Therapist

Instigated by personal experiences of childhood, intimate partner, and spiritual abuse, I decided to embark on a journey of healing. It's been a wild ride, and one that I don't anticipate ending anytime soon. However, the skills and understanding that I've gained from life-experience, support groups, and professional training have instilled an invaluable sense of how to proceed in life.... at least, I have that sense more often than I did in the past. What I'm saying is this - being able to read the terrain has gotten much easier, allowing me to implement my skills more effectively and a little more quickly. I look forward to helping you learn and grow into similar emotional dexterity. Additionally, I've not yet had a client from whom I didn't learn as much as they did from me. I look forward to our partnership on this therapeutic journey.
