My Approach

Whether it's managing intense emotions, improving relationships, making a change, understanding yourself or simply feeling better, I can assist you in successfully navigating life's ups and downs. Everyone can benefit from talking to someone trained and experienced in helping people build on their strengths and overcome life’s challenges. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a focus on mindfulness and strengths perspective, I can help you understand and change unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviors. You'll develop a better awareness of who you are, what you want and how to get it. The answers lie in you. My role is to help you discover and feel confident in them. I work with individuals with a broad variety of concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, life transitions, family and relationship conflict, dating, low self-esteem, stress, ADHD, Asperger's, autism and other learning differences, and processing difficult relationships with our families of origin.

My Background

With over two decades experience working with teens, young adults and individuals who identify with Aspergers or autism, I'm an expert in these arenas. I collaborate with families to strengthen relationships and communication. Some of my most rewarding career experience has been: helping all types of students apply, adjust to and succeed in college; providing consultation and coaching to staff in Oregon public schools for students with learning differences and behavioral challenges; co-founding two programs for students with autism in New York City public schools; directing a group home for LGBTQ youth in foster care. I offer a free, initial phone consultation to see if I'd be a good fit for your needs, and have afternoon and evening hours available. If you or your child are ready, I'd love to hear from you!
