My Ideal Client

I work with individuals, families, and partnerships of all ages and backgrounds. My passion lies with working with LGBTQIA youth as they find their voice and become active participants and decision-makers in their lives. However, I am honored to work with everyone as we explore and deconstruct the harmful narratives that are often adopted from families, partners, communities and oppressive social constructs. We can move with a curiosity that makes space for your fully unique self.

My Approach to Helping

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington (MHC.LH.61475994) and a Professional Counselor Associate in Oregon (R7357). My practice is oriented to Narrative Theory and Ecopsychology. Celebrating each individual’s uniqueness, I aim to help clients understand their stories within a larger sociocultural context while encouraging them to make room for meaningful narratives. Narrative theory emphasizes that our stories are not only our own, but are comprised of the narratives that society may have of us. It is important to embolden the voice of the client as they work to rewrite the storylines of their identity. I work to help clients create meaning while also acknowledging and holding the larger systems of oppression accountable for the barriers they continuously uphold. Additionally, I pull components from a variety of modalities and currently am in the process to become a certified ADHD clinical services provider.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

With a background in environmental conservation and currently in the process of re-indigenizing my understanding of conservation, I hold true that in order for our ecosystems to thrive, it embraces all that is queer, diverse, strange, unique, beautiful, and mystifying. The fact is, there is nothing queerer than nature. Imagine the thriving community we could cultivate if we choose to use nature as a mirror and model for success. As a queer Black woman and a clinician, my goal is to help my clients understand their unique existence in this greater ecosystem, ready to be embraced for all that they are. These identifies inform how I show up in the world and have always been affirmed in how I relate to our natural spaces. While that may not be everyone's cup of tea, it grounds me in my values and allows me to relate to others in the human and beyond human world.
