My Ideal Client

Clients often tell me that our work has helped them to sort through their thoughts and feelings to gain clarity, to grow, to learn about themselves, to develop confidence, and to feel empowered to make important decisions. If you are feeling stuck, wanting to grow or learn about yourself, noticing the effects of trauma, struggling with depression or anxiety, or wanting support in a warm and collaborative environment, I can help you to heal and reach your goals.

My Approach to Helping

Some healing can only happen in the context of a trusting and supportive relationship, and it is crucial to find the right therapist for you. I may be the right therapist for you if you are looking for someone who is warm, transparent, friendly, genuine, and active. I am collaborative and work to tailor our work to your needs, values, and goals. It is important to me that we actively discuss and minimize power dynamics in our relationship so that we can genuinely connect. Do you struggle with self-judgment, self-criticism, or self-blame? We live in a culture that promotes these as paths to self-improvement; instead, they are paths to depression, dissatisfaction, and feeling stuck. I can help you to develop a more compassionate, supportive, accepting, and loving relationship with yourself. Healing and caring for your own wounds and trauma can help you to improve all aspects of your life and your relationships with others.

My Values as a Therapist

People do not have problems outside of context; we are all struggling to exist in a neoliberal capitalist system that is not designed to support our mental health or wellness. Helping my clients to understand how systems of oppression impact their functioning is critically important to shifting from self-blame to healing and action in support of a more just world for all. I have an anti-racist, intersectional feminist lens in my work, and social justice is deeply important to me. I work with a wide range of clients struggling with many different issues, but have a particular focus on working with trans and gender diverse clients, other members of the LGBTQ community, kinky folks, college and graduate students, and people in polyamorous relationship structures. I am also passionate about working with fellow therapists and therapists in training.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

I am a queer-identified cis woman, and as a member of the queer community am passionate about helping folx explore their identities, navigate systems of oppression, and grow and heal from trauma. I specialize in helping folx to explore their gender identities, which can include supporting them through transitions. I also provide letters in support of gender affirming care (e.g., WPATH letters).

  • PTSD External link

Trauma can keep us stuck and frozen reliving the most painful times in our lives. I work with many different types of trauma, including long-term and attachment-related trauma, as well as trauma related to a single event. I tailor treatment to particular individuals and incorporate person-centered, relational, narrative, and internal family systems (IFS) into my work with trauma, as well as offering Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

Humans need each other, and can also cause one another immense amounts of pain. We may use the therapeutic relationship as a place to explore relational patterns, practice new ways of being, and strengthen the capacity for intimacy and ability to navigate conflict. We may also explore how past relationships, starting in childhood, can affect current patterns and how to heal attachment wounds to promote deeper and more joyful connections with others.
