My Ideal Client

Teen life can be overwhelming, confusing, and exciting all at once. Their internal and external climate is chock-full of newness, opportunities for growth, as well as potential pitfalls. They want guidance from a trusted adult outside of their circles who sees them accurately, speaks their language, and takes them on a journey of self-discovery to arm them for the real world. My rough-around-the-edges, direct approach facilitates that journey in a compassionate, secure and humorous way.

How I Can Help You

I offer specialized group therapy for teens. Since group therapy out-performs individual therapy in research, I prioritize my schedule for teen therapy groups (some individual therapy on a case by case basis). For my fellow colleagues: I hold a masters in dual-diagnosis (mood/addiction/eating disorders) from Lewis & Clark College. I have since worked in co-occurring addiction and mental health social services treating eating disorders and addiction at the following institutions: Oregon Youth Authority, Community Services NW, Sound Mental Health, and Harborview Trauma Hospital in Seattle, WA. In addition to continuing education in ACT and Harm Reduction, I received extensive specialty training in Radically Open DBT from Abri RODBT (clinic in Portland, OR).

Why I am a Good Fit for You

If you are looking for a therapist that is a little rough around the edges in terms of demeanor and language while having high-level knowledge of the issues you struggle with, I'd be your therapist. I can be validating but am also one to challenge my clients with difficult questions - humor/sarcasm also plays a big role in my therapeutic approach. Check out my website for more info!

  • Body Image Issues External link

    I have extensive training in body image and eating disorders, with primary experience in disorders of over control - namely anorexia and body dysmorphia.

  • Sexual Problems External link

    Body confidence goes hand in hand with sexual confidence. I lean in an Esther Perel direction (Google her, she's amazing) and have enjoyed her trainings. I've found that many of my clients benefit from having both body image and sexual empowerment folded into their treatment.

  • ADHD External link

    I personally struggle with ADHD, was diagnosed my first year of college and have gone most of my life unmedicated. I have learned and been educated in organizational systems (both mentally and hands-on) that lead to a successful and happy life. Do yourself a favor and get a "time timer."
