My Ideal Client

My ideal client is a child, adolescent, adult, or family who is struggling with attachment, identity, or self-worth issues, however those may present (hint-a behavior is a symptom, it's not the root issue). I am here to validate your lived experience, recognize and harness your strengths, and use evidenced-based practices to help you experience safety in the therapy room and growth in your life. My approach is compassionate, strengths-based, non-judgmental, and client-led.

What I Specialize In

I have been a social worker for more than two decades working extensively in the adoption and foster care community, as well as child welfare, and therefore have expertise supporting a variety of families in a variety of forms. In addition to standard coursework, I am trained in EMDR, TAC (adoption competency), and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). What all of that means without the weird acronyms is that I use models that are proven to work and help you and/or your family heal.

Why I Became a Therapist

After working in the child welfare/adoption world for a very long time and finding myself on a management track, I realized that working more intimately with the individuals and families I served was what truly brought me joy. Since I made the decision to dip my toe back into clinical work, it has truly felt like where I was meant to be all along and I can't wait to meet you!

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Adoption Issues External link

I worked in the foster/adoption field for over 15 years before becoming a therapist and have supported every member of the adoption kinship network. I have completed TAC (Training for Adoption Competency), TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) and Therapeutic Lifestory Work trainings, all of which equip me to support families through the complexities of adoption and attachment.

  • Parenting External link

I love working with parents/caregivers and have spent my entire career doing so. Whether you are biological, adoptive, kin, or any other type of caregiver to a child (temporary or permanent) I have tools to offer and support to give. I also have an unending pool of compassion and empathy for the day-to-day challenges you face, whether they feel big or small.
