My Ideal Client

If you're committed to improving your health and wellness and to minimizing your need for medication, I'm here for you! I see every individual as genetically, biologically, socially, culturally and psychologically unique and believe treatment should be tailored with this in mind. Also, fostering a collaborative environment is key—where clients are informed, engaged, and active partners in their path to improved health and well-being.

My Approach to Helping

I strive to understand the neurological and psychological connections that make up every individual's unique perspective and work closely with them to find what medications will suit them best and are least likely to cause them side effects, adverse reactions and withdrawal upon eventual discontinuation. My aim is to minimize patients' need for medications; I routinely help patients safely come off medications that are no longer needed, wanted or sufficiently helpful. Thanks to neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself, it’s natural that its need for medication may change during the course of proper treatment, which is why re-evaluating this need regularly is a top priority.I incorporate brief psychotherapy when needed in the care provided to catalyze healing as medication is most often much less helpful when not combined with psychological counseling, however I tend to work with individuals who are either already working with or looking for an individual psychotherapist.

Why I am a Good Fit for You

My practice is rooted in treating every individual with dignity and compassion. I've been involved in volunteering efforts focused on providing mental health support to underserved communities worldwide. I am devoted to lifelong learning to enhance personalized care. Becoming an NP stems from my passion to empower individuals, helping them overcome challenges and embrace their strengths. I strive to reduce the stigma around seeking help, fostering meaningful conversations about mental health to create a community of empathy and understanding. My aim is to support you in achieving resilience and a more fulfilling life. At MIND HUB—Medical Interventions for Neuroplastic Development: Holistically Understanding the Brain—we primarily offer telehealth appointments, with occasional in-person sessions. We treat mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders, providing comprehensive diagnostic, medication management, psychotherapeutic, and educational services for sustainable emotional wellness.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Medication Management External link

I have many years of experience managing medications and supervising other mental health prescribers. As Chief of Psychiatry at Harvard Vanguard, I taught psychopharmacology classes to primary care providers to increase access to care. I’ve developed multi-lingual, culturally adapted evaluation tools to improve treatment outcomes. My experience across multiple countries and healthcare settings has strengthened my ability to tailor treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Overwhelming anxiety can disrupt daily life and emotional well-being. With years of experience, I effectively treat conditions like generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, agoraphobia, PTSD, including complex PTSD, and specific phobias. My approach focuses on helping you regain control and improve your quality of life.

  • Bipolar External link

There are many types of bipolar disorder and, for this reason, people suffering from types of the disorder that impact fuctioning in more discrete ways are often misdiagnosed. This can lead to ineffective treatment efforts, worsening of symptoms and patients feeling frustrated and hopeless in resolving emotional and behavioral issues that negatively impact their self esteem, functioning and/or relationships.

  • Depression External link

Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide. When suffering from depression it can be difficult to feel hopeful for a better future, to redirect discouraging thoughts and to find the motivation to seek help or engage in self-care. My extensive experience treating this insidious disorder including treatment resistent cases and in restoring hope to those who need it the most makes me well suited to help those suffering from major depressive disorders.

  • ADHD External link

ADHD is a disorder that can significantly impact a person's quality of life, functioning, self concept and relationships. I have specialized in treating this disorder and provided psychoeducation lectures to primary care providers and psychiatric and mental health practitioners for years now to help increase access to quality care for this often devastating and misunderstood disorder.

  • PTSD External link

I've spent years of my career studying the biological, genetic and psychological mechanisms that underly post traumatic stress disorder and have also aquired United Nations post-war conflict resolution certificates in my efforts to increase access to care in Canada, the United States and Somaliland. I have spent years heading treatment programs for the Inuit populations of Nunavik and being a lead provider for a program offering treatment to Cambodian refugees from the Pol-pot genocide.
