My Ideal Client

Many of my clients are highly sensitive and seeking relief from fears or worries that interfere with their life, or are navigating the effects of a single-incident traumatic event. Common struggles of the clients I work with are: feeling unable to “shut your brain off” due to anxiety, certain phobias such as fear of driving or dogs, feeling nervous in social settings with worry about judgement from others, and being impacted by a recent traumatic event such as a car accident or assault.

My Approach to Helping

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have been working as a mental health therapist since 2019. I respect that you are the expert of your own life, and view therapy as a space to untangle the root cause of your struggles while providing tools for healing and growth. I am passionate about using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to facilitate healing from the impacts of past experiences and old narratives that continue to show up in the present. In addition to EMDR, I value the art of talk therapy. There is something so profound about 1) holding hope while allowing for a client-led process to solutions, and 2) also being able to offer alternative perspectives and therapeutic tools to reduce suffering and increase alignment with one’s values. My work is grounded in Person Centered Therapy, and I primarily draw on EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Polyvagal Theory.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am trauma-informed, practice from the biopsychosocial-spiritual perspective, and bring an intersectional and culturally sensitive lens as a social worker. I am also happy to integrate faith from a shared perspective as a Christian for those who are seeking this upon request. I respect that spirituality can vary widely from different types of religions to simply where you find meaning and purpose in life.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • EMDR External link

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and have been utilizing this modality with clients since 2022. I have seen it be very effective for a variety of issues including traumatic events, phobias, and anxiety.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

I utilize both EMDR and talk therapy to address anxiety. Anxiety is a natural response to stress or perceived danger, but when it becomes persistent or overwhelming, it can start to limit how you live your life. I utilize tools for nervous-system-regulation to support grounding in the present moment. Rather than trying to eliminate anxiety entirely, therapy focuses on understanding what your anxiety is communicating and helping your body feel more safe.

  • Social Phobia External link

I utilize both EMDR and talk therapy to address social anxiety. EMDR can help the brain process and integrate distressing memories or associations that are linked to the social anxiety, which allows the nervous system to respond with less fear and reactivity. Through talk therapy, I often encourage acceptance and mindfulness strategies to manage these fears and help reduce avoidance of social settings.

  • Panic External link

I utilize both EMDR and talk therapy to address panic attacks and panic disorder. EMDR can help the brain process and integrate distressing memories or associations that are linked to ongoing panic attack triggers and reduce their frequency or intensity. I also utilize tools for nervous-system-regulation to support grounding in the present moment which can help manage panic attacks in the moment.

  • Historical Trauma External link

I primarily provide trauma therapy using EMDR which helps the brain process and integrate traumatic memories so they no longer carry the same emotional charge. One benefit to EMDR therapy is that it does not require detailed retelling of traumatic events, and will move at a pace that feels right to you that begins with reviewing tools for distress tolerance and nervous system regulation.
