My Ideal Client

Perhaps you're noticing an increased level of stress, and finding it harder to cope with the overwhelming shifts in the way we live our lives. I may be a good fit if you'd like support around anxiety + burnout, ADHD, interpersonal relationship concerns, identity exploration, and first-generation American issues. We'll collaborate to develop a realistic plan to support you in feeling more at peace within yourself and more confident and fulfilled in your choices and your relationships.

My Approach to Helping

My approach is culturally sensitive, warm, and pragmatic. My experience as a Persian-French, first-generation American has helped me support and connect with those who may feel lost or marginalized by the mainstream narrative of American society. My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you feel empowered to find your voice amidst often contradictory familial, professional, and societal expectations. Each of us processes the world differently and helping clients build tools for growth while feeling heard, seen, and affirmed is my goal. My approach is strengths-based, mindfulness oriented, and intersectional. I use person-centered, humanist, and narrative approaches through a feminist lens.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

The resilience of the human spirit inspires me, and it is a privilege to witness the transformative and healing power of human connection. I hold a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Northwestern University and completed an externship in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), as well as advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindful Self-Compassion, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and modern psychodynamic theory and practice. My work as a therapist is in addition to an agency that I created to help people navigate dating platforms, create authentic profiles, and connect in today’s modern landscape. I help individuals find supportive and meaningful relationships and feel privileged to connect couples in partnership.

  • Couples Counseling External link

    I offer a warm, judgment-free space for couples to explore patterns, triggers, attachment styles, and relationship cycles. I use Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to support couples in exploring their approaches to conflict, and in deepening the quality of their communication and connection.

  • EMDR External link

    We can't change the past, but we can change its impact on us. Often past memories collide with our present experience, causing emotional distress. Together we will identify and reprocess current and foundational memories and help build positive, adaptive memory networks. This will bring relief and resolution in the present, and resilience and hope for the future.

  • ADHD External link

    Those who identify with ADHD are often highly creative with an abundance of ideas + big picture connections. They can also struggle with managing their time (arriving late, super early, or generally overscheduled), organizing daily life (meeting deadlines, staying on task, paying bills on time), and experiencing strong emotions (intense feelings that are hard to manage). I work with clients to regulate difficult emotions and offer effective time management + organizational techniques.

  • Anxiety External link

    Feelings of anxiety such as a pervasive sense of unease, worry, or racing thoughts can be our bodies' SOS signal. It’s an invitation to explore what needs our attention. I will work with you holistically to identify the causes of your anxiety and the emotions you're experiencing as a result. I'll support you in regulating and managing your emotions with mindfulness and CBT techniques to help you feel more grounded.
