My Ideal Client

I work with clients who notice feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or drained, and are unsure of how to move forward. I support clients in cultivating self-worth, healing past experiences, exploring their values and purpose, and creating safe and meaningful relationships.

My Approach to Helping

We live in a world filled with external pressures and competing expectations, making it hard to stay connected to what truly matters to us. I believe therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with ourselves. My goal as a therapist is to support you in finding your voice amidst the often conflicting messages from family, work, and society. My approach is culturally sensitive, warm, and pragmatic. I honor the fact that each person processes the world in their own way, and I aim to help you build tools for healing and growth while feeling seen, heard, and affirmed.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

The resilience of the human spirit inspires me, and it is a privilege to witness the transformative power of human connection. I believe that just as we can be wounded in relationships, we can also heal in them. My approach to therapy centers the relationship between client and therapist as a space of non-judgment, compassion, and an opportunity to process and make sense of the challenges you face. I have a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University and completed an externship and core skills training in EFT, as well as advanced training in EMDR and Mindful Self-Compassion.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Couples Counseling External link

I offer a space to explore where you feel stuck in your relationship. Together we will bring awareness to the negative relational cycle unique to every couple. This awareness will help us understand and resolve negative patterns, explore intercultural dynamics, process emotional responses, and create a positive shift in interpersonal interactions. This shift aims to move you and your partner toward a secure bond of trust and intimacy and deepen the quality of your communication and connection.

  • EMDR External link

We can't change the past, but we can change its impact on us. Often past memories collide with our present experience causing emotional distress. Together we will identify and reprocess current and foundational memories and help build new positive, adaptive memory networks. This will bring relief and resolution in the present, and resilience and hope for the future. EMDR can also help reprocess patterns that are understood on a cognitive level but are hard to shift on a behavioral level.

  • Mindfulness-based External link

Mindfulness serves as a powerful tool for emotional regulation, allowing us to turn towards and acknowledge our thoughts and emotions (like feelings of inadequacy, sadness, anger, and confusion) with a spirit of open curiosity. It can serve as an essential source of coping and resilience, dramatically improving our mental and physical health. We will learn how to handle difficult emotions with greater ease while motivating ourselves with encouragement rather than criticism.

  • Emotionally Focused External link

Emotionally Focused Therapy is for couples to explore where they are feeling stuck. Together we will bring awareness to triggers and identify the negative relational cycle unique to every couple. We will understand and resolve negative patterns while deepening the quality of your communication and connection. This will help process emotional responses and create a positive shift in your interpersonal interactions, moving toward a secure bond of trust and intimacy.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, we will explore places where you both feel stuck, and bring awareness to the negative relational cycle unique to every couple. We will understand and resolve unhelpful communication patterns while deepening the quality of your communication and connection. Together we will explore intercultural dynamics, process emotional responses, and create a positive shift in your interpersonal interactions, moving toward a secure bond of trust and intimacy.

  • Anxiety External link

Feelings of anxiety such as a pervasive sense of unease, worry, or racing thoughts can be our bodies' SOS signal. It’s an invitation to explore what needs our attention. I will work with you holistically to identify the causes of your anxiety and the emotions you're experiencing as a result. I'll support you in regulating and managing your emotions with mindfulness and CBT techniques to help you feel more grounded.

  • ADHD External link

Those who identify with ADHD are often highly creative with an abundance of ideas + big picture connections. They can also struggle with managing their time (arriving late, super early, or generally overscheduled), organizing daily life (meeting deadlines, staying on task, paying bills on time), and experiencing strong emotions (intense feelings that are hard to manage). I work with clients to regulate difficult emotions and offer effective time management and organizational techniques.

  • Self-Esteem External link

There are many factors that contribute to our sense of worthiness and self-esteem. We will explore your self-esteem timeline and influences such as cultural, societal, socioeconomic, familial, and educational impacts on your self-concept. We will: - Explore your sense of meaning and belonging through clarifying values and beliefs. Bring awareness to relational patterns through an attachment lens. - Recognizing systems of oppression and their impact on the self.
