My Ideal Client

My clients are looking for couples or individual therapy. They are ethnically and racially diverse, LGBTQ or non-LGBTQ. In individual therapy we will explore childhood influences contributing to current emotions and behavior, and learn coping skills for numerous issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties and loss. In couples work we explore conflict resolution, communication skills and intimacy building. I especially enjoy couples work!

My Approach to Helping

In couples therapy I discuss interpersonal styles, conflict resolution and communication skills. I help couples better understand how their own and partner's past experiences have influenced their relationship styles. In individual therapy I discuss with the client how one's faulty and unhealthy thinking and beliefs can lead to behaviors that are not helpful--often leading to depression and anxiety. I explore how trauma and upbringing influences current behavior.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have practiced therapy on both the east and west coast for many years. I have worked in the following areas: hospital counseling,clinical work, private practice, domestic violence agencies and college counseling. I have an extensive background in : LGBTQ issues , relationship issues, domestic violence, alcohol and drug abuse, depression , anxiety and trauma.
