My Background
I earned my bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Portland. I went on to complete my master's degree in Social Work from Portland State University. During my career, I have worked in a variety of settings: outpatient, inpatient, intensive outpatient, triage, and emergency room. I have led individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy sessions. I have experience working with adolescents, teenagers, adults, and seniors. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have taught CBT to thousands of patients! However, I am trained in a variety of therapy techniques so I can choose the one that best fits your unique needs.
My Approach to Helping
I often help clients reshape the thought patterns contributing to their anxiety or depression, cope with chronic pain or illness, and navigate conflict with their friends, family, or partner. I listen empathetically to fully understand each person's struggles and goals, support, empower, and offer guidance. I have been told that I have an excellent way of looking at complex situations and helping others find solutions.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Collaborative Problem-Solving, Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Exposure Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness.
