My Ideal Client

Are you searching for the skills needed to decrease anxiety and/or feelings of depression while increasing your sense of well-being and life-balance? Life often feels hard enough without the added stress of managing anxiety - when it will come on, how big it will feel, and if it will get in the way. I support teens and young adults in finding and understanding the cause and purpose of their anxiety while also building the skills needed to manage those feelings of overwhelm and stress.

My Background and Approach

I have been working with children, teens and young adults for over 10 years on finding and strengthening the social and emotional skills needed to be successful. I believe we all possess skills such as self-awareness, self-regulation, and growth mindset; all of which can help us master the stress, anxiety, sticky thoughts, and feelings of isolation that can overwhelm us from time to time. My goal is to help you build on the skills that are already working, and recognize and alter those that may be holding you back. I believe in a collaborative approach that includes cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, strengths-based skills, brain science and non-judgement. In other words, you and I will work together to determine your therapeutic goals and the steps to take to reach those goals. We'll explore various techniques and tools that you can begin using right away to help manage anxiety, overcome grief, and build positive relationships.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Through my own practice and research I have found that by understanding our existing coping mechanisms and their role in either supporting or holding us back, we can consciously take what isn't working and create new strategies to put us back in control. With awareness and intention we can change the brain's neural pathways and create healthy, compassionate ways of managing anxiety. The body is continually sending messages to the brain about how we are feeling about our circumstances and our environment. I believe that by growing the connection between the mind and body we are strengthening our awareness and understanding of our feelings and how they impact our thoughts and overall well-being.

I have been working with teens and young adults for over a decade in treatment centers and schools on issues such as anger, anxiety and grief through mindfulness, CBT and other modalities. As an LPC associate and a licensed school counselor, I understand the stress that comes with school, friends and navigating social media. I offer a 4 week program for teens who are looking to take charge of their lives by successfully managing their anxiety.
