My Approach to Helping
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Portland State University. I went on to complete a Master’s in Clinical Social Work at the same institution. During my studies, I explored topics like racial equity, housing for LGBTQIAA+ seniors, trauma-informed care, feminist therapy, solution-focused therapy, migration, anti-oppressive models of care. Beyond my academic work, I have post-graduate, on-the-job training in the assessment and treatment of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), Bipolar I and II, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) among others. I take an eclectic and creative approach to therapy. My work draws from several therapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have supported clients dealing with conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, Autism, gender dysphoria, and others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I understand that wellness is a privilege. Therefore, we I am committed to challenging and confronting the effects of capitalism racism, ableism, colonialism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, and xenophopbia (among others). I especially acknowledge the negative impact of late-stage capitalism on mental health and I do my best to empower clients as the ultimate experts in their own health and well-being.
I also believe that the real healing takes place outside of the therapy room. That's why I am passionate about offering an alternative to what is traditionally known as "talk therapy." With consent as the foundation for every session, I work collaboratively with clients to identify personal goals and develop practical strategies that help them carry their new skills into everyday life.
