My Ideal Client

My clients are often professional helpers & healers looking for a space to, "just be the client." They are often going through relational transitions like divorce/separations/remarriage. I also work with men, women, non-binary, trans & genderfluid folks who are moving through confusing, challenging & painful life transitions. I meet them at the intersection of the mystical and the clinical. The "outsiders" find what feels like HOME here & I'm honored to be a guide & fellow traveler.

My Background and Approach

Becoming a therapist was a second career for me. After 10 years in the fast-paced world of corporate marketing, I was laid off during the 2008 recession. The much-needed career change directed my inner compass to a master's program in marriage and family therapy that same year. I had no idea how becoming a therapist would completely unravel EVERYTHING I thought to be true about life, family, love, relationships, spirituality, and ME. Such a gift. This is a space to talk about any of the nuances folks experience relating to (but not limited to) race, sexuality, gender, neurodivergence, ability, unearned privilege and/or advantage and anything else that may be or have been “taboo” in other areas of life. I bring this work to life through individual therapy for those in California & Oregon, group community-building gatherings, Usui reiki energy work and holding spiritual spaces for those who gave up on organized religion but deeply miss and yearn for a spiritual community.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe therapy is political - meaning that therapy as a practice & institution is influenced by and contributes to the politics of society. I acknowledge the privileges & advantages (both earned & unearned) that I hold as a working class white American citizen with settler ancestry and post-secondary education who presents as neurotypical, straight, and able-bodied. While my position as a non-straight, neurodivergent person with mostly-stable mental health has allowed me to generate more insights and compassion into these lived experiences, I am committed to listening, learning, unlearning, decolonizing, and growing within my personal & professional worlds. I live & work through a lens of anti-oppressive & anti-racism. I am constantly working to create safer spaces for those who are marginalized, oppressed & silenced to be seen, heard, witnessed & supported by hiring and learning from mentors of the global majority.
