My Ideal Client

Often when people first come see me they are struggling with the stressors of daily life, feeling anxious, feeling down, they have emotional wounds. Emotional wounds and trauma are the same thing and this is what I specialize in. I work with all kinds of trauma big and small - religious, childhood, and sexual traumas, emotional wounds, relationship hurts, family conflict and estrangement, etc.

How I Can Help You

I'm a trauma specialist who also works with depression and anxiety, which often overlap with trauma. I work with all sorts of traumas including religious trauma, childhood, and sexual traumas, PTSD and CPTSD. Some clients are new to therapy and nervous—that's ok. We can take things slow while taking time to build trust. Others have been in therapy but feel stuck. Many therapy approaches focus on logical solutions which help to a certain extent. But while logical problems need logical solutions, emotional problems need emotional solutions. If you've made cognitive shifts but still struggle, let's find your emotional solutions.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a member of the Rainbow community and I am heavily influenced by Buddhism. Buddhist psychology is a major interest of mine, which I can bring into the room in a more direct way for clients who find this helpful. I believe in community and standing up for one another when someone is being harmed. As a therapist, I feel that cognitive approaches can be very helpful, but if that is where we stop, we aren't doing enough. I always say: logical problems need logical solutions, and emotional problems need emotional solutions. We can develop a clearer understanding of a trauma we experienced and see some benefit from shifting the way we think about it. But trauma is stored in the body, physically and emotionally. We have to be able to heal on a deep somatic and emotional level. To make sure I have a well-rounded set of tools to help clients heal in all of these dimensions, I use EMDR, parts work and EFIT, mindfulness, somatic approaches, and CBT.
