My Approach

I operate on the belief that everyone already has what they need within themselves to experience fulfillment in their life. Unfortunately, there are a lot internal and external factors that can cover over and confuse this capacity often resulting in a feeling of falling short of who you should be and what you should be doing. This can lead to a sense of being out of sync and other symptoms that are causing you to seek therapy. I believe that the most important task set before you is to make meaning of you life and to remain steadfast in this task while navigating through external influences. This is done by increasing awareness of your experience and letting a new language and understanding come forth, one that clarifies your identity, results in a shift in the way you experience yourself and your relationships and a feeling of peace and presence in everyday life.

My Background

I am a licensed mental health counselor who has been providing support for Clark County residents since 2008. I graduated from Seattle University's Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2005. I am trained in the Existential-Phenomenological tradition and have additional training in Focusing. Before settling in the Portland/Vancouver area, I spent 2 years in London and I worked as volunteer counselor for individuals without insurance. I enjoy assisting people who desire to be happier, less anxious, get better sleep, connect with others, be more relaxed, feel more at home in their own skin, more confident, have more direction, increase their awareness, manage their emotions better, manage irritation better, are looking for meaning and purpose in their lives, understand their dreams, increase satisfaction in their relationships or get unstuck.
