I work with clients with a broad spectrum of challenges--anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions and identity development, existential concerns, psychedelic integration, and more. Beyond relief of symptoms (which is important!), the clients who find me are often looking for a greater sense of depth, meaning, and connection in their lives, whether that's to themselves, to others, or to the big mystery we're all a part of.
Specialties
I am extensively trained in IFS, and have completed all three levels of training through the IFS Institute, as well as certification, which requires ongoing supervision, continuing education, and demonstrations of competency. I am also certified in Somatic IFS, which brings an additional layer of body-based awareness and practice to the IFS model. I continue to develop my skills and grounding through regular supervision and consultation.
I utilize perspectives and practices from a variety of traditional and contemporary approaches to contemplative practice; these perspectives are grounded in my own ongoing experience and growth as a practitioner and student.
My experience is that the body is the quickest and most direct portal to what is central to our challenges. When we use the body as our entry point, we drop beneath our habitual mental narratives and start to interact directly with our experience, supporting a deeper movement toward wholeness. I bring an exploratory and open attitude toward breath, posture, movement, and body awareness that lets us access greater depth and richness of experience in service of healing.
My view is that there are inner resources, experiences, and capacities available to us that lie beyond what we typically think of as our personal psychology. We may access these resources in peak experiences, through dedicated practice or psychedelic work, or in moments of deep need or stress, but we can also cultivate an awareness of these deeper places in ourselves and they can become a deep source of strength and support in the healing process.
Specialties
Most clients who come to me are dealing with some form of anxiety; I find IFS to be a particularly helpful therapeutic approach for developing insight into the underlying causes of anxiety and working to heal it at the root.
'Depression' can be a very simple label for a very complex experience. Working somatically and through a parts work lens, we can untangle the threads that keep you feeling stuck, hopeless, or unable to move forward in your life.
I often work with men wanting to find their way to a more life-giving and generative masculinity, whether that means greater emotional access and insight, working through cultural patterns and scripts that no longer serve them, or developing their own sense of what it means to be a man in the world today.
I have over 15 years of practice in a number of traditional and contemporary spiritual paths, and welcome individuals looking for an integration of spirituality into the therapy room. My perspective is broad and inclusive, and I work to meet clients through the language, traditions (or lack thereof), and orientations that feel most meaningful to them.
I have a particular interest in helping people navigate intergenerational or historical patterns of trauma that seem to come through a particular family or cultural lineage. This interest stems from my own work around inherited Jewish trauma, and I feel that IFS offers some particularly helpful tools for identifying and working with these patterns.
