My Ideal Client

If you’ve felt “too much,” “too sensitive,” or like you’ve had to hold everything together, I may be a good fit. I work with trans, nonbinary, queer, neurodivergent, or just tired of spaces that don’t quite get you and who feel stuck in familiar cycles and want a space where their body can exhale, their story is believed, and we make more room for ease, alignment, and maybe some laughter.

My Approach to Helping

My approach is warm, collaborative, and curious rather than clinical or cold. When appropriate, humor and sarcasm is utilized. I have specialized in trauma since 2016 and am continually learning from leading experts about how to support the various symptoms of trauma (anxiety, depression, numbness, feeling stuck, etc.). We will get to know how this shows up in your body and nervous system, while also considering environmental, relational, and societal factors to help us understand how past experiences show up in the here and now. I will never force you to talk about something you don't want to as I always center consent and choice. Also, I love exploring your special interests (those things that make you light up). I am direct and will challenge you when needed. Our work together will be collaborative, but I am never worried when the inevitable, "I don't know what to talk about today" comes up. I also deeply love working with folx who have yet to have a good therapy experience.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a queer/trans therapist, I believe healing should feel like coming home to yourself, not like performing your trauma on a deadline. I have a rest-positive, body-centered, trauma-informed therapy practice that centers healing as a path back to aliveness for people whose bodies and identities are often misunderstood or pushed to the margins. I have done my own body trust work and I believe the body is a source of wisdom rather than a problem to fix, guided by body trust in how we relate to food, movement, rest, and care. Grounded in social justice and cultural attunement, I name how systems of oppression shape nervous systems instead of pretending it’s all “just in your head.” I move at the pace of your actual nervous system (only as fast as the slowest part), approach healing as relational, and invite your whole self—history, culture, identities, and sense of humor—into the room so therapy can support not only individual change, but more liberated ways of living and relating.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Gender Identity External link

As a member of gender diverse communities (trans/genderqueer) I know and value the importance of not having to "teach" your therapist about your identity. I also firmly believe that being a member of these communities is not sufficient to working within my communities. As such, I have and continue to train and expand my knowledge and competencies for within communities support. I offer informed consent based gender affirming surgery assessments for those seeking such services.

  • Historical Trauma External link

The more I learn about trauma (see PTSD comments below) the more I learn about the impact of our history and ancestors. As such, I do not focus solely on the traumatic events that you experienced, but also explore you history, culture, and family of origin to help us both better understand the traumatic responses that may have been transmitted to you.

  • PTSD External link

I have and continue to complete multiple certifications and training related to trauma, trauma-informed care. This is why you see so many initials after my name, but you also welcome to visit my CV on my website to learn more about my training history and knowledge.
