Specialties
When working with couples, I use Gottman Method because it has shown in over a decade of research to be effective. The Gottman approach provides simple ways to effectively manage conflict, deepen intimacy, improve friendship, and help heal relationship injuries even when there is significant conflict in a relationship.
I work with people to help them understand the connection between their thoughts, their feelings, and their actions so that they can notice what they are doing, and positive changes in their lives. This type of therapy is really useful for people with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Additionally, I often teach these skills to parents when their children have challenging behaviors.
In my practice, the goal of art therapy is to use art and creativity to resolve emotional conflicts, self-sooth, reduce anxiety and depression, and help gain insight into emotions, thoughts, and actions. With families and couples, art therapy has been useful for developing better communication and teamwork skills.
Specialties
I often work with adults and couples who need a 'tune up', want to understand themselves better, or who are looking to change their life completely. Whether it's getting back on track or making a major life change, my goal-driven and creative background allows me to assist people to learn the skills they need to develop and maintain their new path.
I understand the dynamics and challenges of being a part of this community and offer a GLBTQ friendly environment for counseling. Additionally, I have helped many teenagers and adults undergoing gender transitions (including non-binary) and have helped many families learn how to support and advocate for their loved one while they undertake their exciting journey.
I am trained in Gottman therapy (level 2) and use this as my primary therapy with couples and non-monogamous relationships. This method has over a decade of research understanding what makes long-term relationships work. I find this to be a highly effective therapy for building better communication, deepening intimacy, and learning how to resolve conflicts.
