My Approach to Helping

Integral therapy begins with a basic attitude that all people have a tremendous capacity for change, and that we all contain within us a natural impulse towards healing. Therapy is a collaborative relationship, I will invite you to “lead the way” as we explore what is present for you. It is important to me that you feel seen, heard, and empowered in the therapy process. Together, we will work towards the creation of an atmosphere of safety and trust that supports your healing process. My work is experiential, using dialogue and awareness to help those I work with to understand themselves and regain a sense of agency in their lives.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon. I received my master's degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA. My graduate and post-graduate experience includes specializing in psychedelic integration services, working as an outpatient drug and alcohol counselor, a school-based mental health therapist, and an intensive outpatient mental health therapist. Previously, I worked in the field of personal growth and natural healing for over a decade. My work is informed by my own process of growth and learning, which has helped me to understand the challenges and opportunities in every life change. I receive ongoing training and supervision in Gestalt therapy from Gestalt Therapy Training Associates Northwest, Gestalt Associates Training Seattle, and other professional trainers.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Integral Therapy External link

Integral Therapy is fundamentally oriented toward wholeness. The integral approach is also profoundly optimistic, as it affirms every person's capacity for transformation, healing, and growth. I received an M.A. in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA, and integral philosophy forms the foundation of my therapeutic work with clients.

  • Gestalt External link

Gestalt is not only a type of therapy, but also a way of understanding human experience and the process of change. As a Gestalt therapist, my goal is to help you become aware of your needs, interests, and habitual patterns, and to support you to make choices that are meaningful and satisfying for you. I receive ongoing Gestalt training and supervision from multiple organizations and trainers.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Men's Issues External link

With a male gender identification comes certain social norms and expected roles. What does it mean to you to be authentically yourself in a male body? For over a decade, I have been a participant in and facilitator of men's circles and rites of passage ceremonies. In groups and individual sessions, I take an experiential, relational approach to men's work, helping you to connect with your inner wisdom so you can craft a life of integrity, meaning, and purpose.

  • Depression External link

Depression can be a very reasonable response to stressful life circumstances. It can also be the result of holding ourselves back from taking new risks to pursue our desires and interests. Every response to the world makes sense in context. I can support you in the process of understanding your experience of depression, and finding new, more satisfying possibilities.
