My Ideal Client

Are you at a pivotal moment where your old ways of coping just don't seem to be working anymore? Are you struggling with a lack of meaning, or a feeling that you need to grow but you don't know how? Are you going through a major life transition that is shifting the way you view yourself and the world? My clients are curious about their experience, and looking for an ally to help them find their capacity for change. They are wanting to become more of themselves and create a more authentic life.

My Background and Approach

I am a Gestalt-trained, psychedelic-informed, sex-positive, LGBTQIA2S+-affirming therapist serving individuals and groups online and in-person. I’ve been working as a therapist for a decade, and have been in the natural healing and personal growth field since 2008. I offer Gestalt individual and group therapy, as well as Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). Gestalt is an experiential and relational therapy intended to support your awareness and increase your contact with your needs, wants, and capacity for choice so you can create the life that is most meaningful, unique and fulfilling to you. KAP is a legal psychedelic therapy that has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression symptoms in qualified patients. It provides an opportunity to metabolize life experiences and catalyze growth through gaining new perspective, releasing held emotions, and having a new experience of self. KAP is held in a quiet, supportive, and spacious atmosphere that supports profound introspection.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Before I became a psychotherapist, I worked for many years in the field of natural health and earth-based spiritual contexts including nature-based rites of passage, men’s work, and collective ceremonial practices. I continue to offer men’s circles and work with people in expanded states of consciousness today, because I personally have seen the value of collective healing and liminal spaces to catalyze healing processes and restore a sense of connectedness, belonging, and meaning. Acknowledging my privileged context and identity as a descendant of some of the earliest European colonizers of Turtle Island (North America), I strive to reestablish reciprocity with the human and more-than-human world through offering sliding-scale options for LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC folx, supporting local nonprofits, providing occasional donation-based offerings, and reconnecting my clients with the natural world. Continuing my own ancestral healing and spiritual practice are essential parts of my work.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Gestalt External link

Gestalt is not only a type of therapy, but also a way of understanding human experience and the process of change. It is experiential and relational, focused on the present. As a Gestalt therapist, my goal is to help you become aware of your needs, wants, and habitual patterns, and to support you to make choices that are meaningful and satisfying for you. I have trained in Gestalt since 2016, and receive ongoing training and supervision from multiple organizations, trainers, and therapists.

  • Integral Therapy External link

Integral Therapy is fundamentally oriented toward wholeness. The integral approach is also profoundly optimistic, as it affirms every person's capacity for transformation, healing, and growth. I received an M.A. in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA, and integral philosophy forms one foundation of my therapeutic work with clients.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Depression External link

Depression can be a very reasonable response to stressful life circumstances. You come by your experience honestly. Depression may also be the result of old creative adaptations in which we hold ourselves back from taking new risks to pursue our dreams and desires. Together, we will turn towards your unique experience of depression, find the wisdom within this adaptive response, and help you regain your capacity to choose new, more satisfying possibilities.

  • Men's Issues External link

What does it mean to be authentically yourself, inclusive of your masculinity? Since 2008, I have been a participant in and facilitator of men's circles and rites of passage ceremonies that increase connection and deconstruct socialized roles and identities. In groups and individual sessions, I take an experiential, relational approach to men's work, helping you to connect with your inner wisdom and form a healthy masculine identity so you can craft a life of integrity, meaning, and purpose.

  • Personal Growth External link

Sometimes we turn towards therapy when we are basically healthy, but we are troubled by a nagging sense that something is off, or by a feeling that there must be more to life than this. Life is a constant process of growth, and there are pivotal moments where we are pushed to seek out new meaning, or discover a new identity within ourselves. Both Gestalt therapy and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy are uniquely suited to help you in your existential discovery process, to find wholeness within.
