My Ideal Client

My clients are teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, interpersonal conflict, and behavioral and life adjustment challenges. I enjoy consulting with parents of children and teenagers who may be struggling with a host of mental health and/or substance abuse challenges, as well as young adults who may be struggling to launch from home. I am experienced in working with a variety of people, from high school students to professionals and executives.

My Background

I am Dr. Nick Hong, a licensed psychologist who provides individual therapy for adults and teenagers. I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Oregon, advancing and honing my clinical skills at Stanford University and at the University of New Mexico medical centers after. I have worked in a number of settings over the last two decades, from outpatient therapy clinic to inpatient hospital; spoken at nationally and internationally conferences; facilitated regular group therapy sessions and led workshops for families, parents, and couples; and directed clinical, research, and psychology internship programs.

Why I am a Good Fit for You

I believe that we are born with the inherent desire to love and feel loved. We want to feel safe and seen. You haven't had all the answers; that's okay. We'll work together to "see" you -- listening to what hurt or has helped. I will counsel you on the basis of what has been shown to work in the science of applied psychology and equally important, on the basis of what works for you. While I am collaborative in my approach, I am also not shy about suggesting direction and providing pragmatic strategies to empower and evolve you to a place of greater contentment. In the context of a safe relationship, you can heal through the weekly pauses in therapy that is tailored to your life experiences and in which you feel seen.
