My Ideal Client

I work with individuals ages 14 and up. Some populations that I have an affinity for include: people of the global majority/BIPOC folks, transracial adopted persons/adoptees, neurodivergent individuals, disabled individuals, and parents/caregivers. I walk alongside clients struggling with symptoms that could be associated with PTSD, trauma, anxiety, relational challenges (both with themselves and others), depression, and grief.

My Background and Approach

I obtained my Master of Social Work in 2016 from the University of Southern California. I have had the opportunity to work in public child welfare, community mental health, and agency settings. One of the elements that brings me back to the work each day is the power of witnessing and story holding. While I firmly believe that no intervention replaces the power of an attuned therapeutic relationship, I do love learning! I completed my EMDR training in December 2025. I also pull from IFS, CBT, DBT, and somatic practices. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and client-centered. The journey to oneself and the ongoing work to meet each moment where it is can be frightening. I am here to offer a safe space and to assist with meaning-making so that you can reclaim yourself.

My Values as a Therapist

One of my professional pillars is advocacy work and to that end, I have been intentional about decolonizing my own practice and responding to the calls for mutual aid in my community. Advocacy work is also embodied when the role of expert is rightfully placed in the hands of the client. My clinical perspective is that you have the wisdom, it may just be muddied or afraid to speak up. I see myself as a compassionate guide who can help build a safe space for your truest self to emerge, gain footing, and be in the world. I also name and call out the ways that systemic oppression impacts individual and community mental health. My approach takes into consideration your intersectionality and how that impacts your mental wellness, particularly in our present state of unsafety for marginalized identities. My hope is that individual healing can in turn lead to broader community healing for marginalized groups.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Adoption Issues External link

I identify as a transracial (Taiwanese) adoptee and my specialization in this area comes from lived experience as well as professional knowledge/learning. While each adoptee experience is unique, there are numerous ways of thinking and moving in the world that connect us. Working with an adoption-trauma competent therapist is game changing for many adopted individuals.

  • Autism External link

I also identify as neurodivergent and am parenting a neurodivergent child. My specialization in this area comes from lived experience as well as professional knowledge/learning. Neurodiversity is a beautiful tapestry of differing mindscapes and there are similar challenges that we face while trying to exist in a neurotypical world.

  • Cultural and Systemic Oppression External link

As an ally, witness, and story holder, my specialization in cultural and systemic oppression comes from lived experience as well as an intentional journey of decolonizing my practice. Practically speaking, that looks like a non-carceral approach to care and crisis. It also looks like healing in a framework that includes community, ancestral relationships, consideration of the wisdom and gifts of the natural world, and pushback against the medical model and practices grounded in capitalism.
