My Ideal Client

I work best with neurodivergent or queer individuals struggling to live in our current state of the world. I specialize in working with ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and relationship or sexual issues. I am sex positive/kink friendly and love working with folks in alternative relationships (polyamory, ENM, etc.). I am experienced in working with Latino/x/e, Black, immigrant, queer, and transgender clients. As a therapist and ally, I am committed to continuing my education and self-reflective practices.

My Background and Approach

My approach to therapy is relational, feminist, narrative, and can integrate somatic and culturally specific support. I want to create a space of trust, connection, and empowerment for my clients. We will work together to unravel where you are from, where you are now, and where you would like to be. We can explore how your body holds and carries your stress and trauma. We can be creative and integrate connections to your culture, heritage, or spirituality into your mental health support. I have years of experience as a youth mentor and housing case manager. I am equipped in providing trauma-informed care from my experiences serving youth, houseless folks, and survivors of domestic violence. I also have experience teaching conflict resolution skills and harm reduction skills, which I bring into all my clinical work.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I identify as white, Latina, queer, neurodivergent, and polyamorous. I bring my identities to my practice to hopefully help folks with similar identities or background feel safe and understood. Being mixed race, queer, neurodivergent, and polyamorous, I also am skilled in reimagining systems, identities, and norms in society. Intersectionality is beautiful! I am a passionate ally to many communities. I am strongly passionate in supporting transgender and non-binary clients wherever they are in their journey. I love working with immigrant communities and have years of experience supporting Latine youth and their families. Working with Black & Indigenous POC folks have been integral to my growth, learning, and healing. Black feminist theories and indigenous practices greatly inspire and influence my work.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Somatic Therapy (Body Centered) External link

Somatic therapy is incredibly helpful in acknowledging and processing emotions and stress stuck in the body. We can integrate body scans, movement exercises, deep breathing exercises, and any energy healing practices that feel attuned to you.

  • Narrative  External link

I greatly value hearing the stories of my clients and hold those stories with honor. Your story and journey is sacred. We can explore what you have been told to believe about your story, and reimagine how you want to remember parts of your story. I encourage creative expression of your story through journaling or visual arts in addition to talk therapy.

  • Feminist External link

This to me means that I will always view people's stories and experiences through the lens that capitalism and patriarchy has caused harm to most everyone. I am passionate about anti-racist and liberatory theories and practices and will bring these ideas to therapy. Acknowledging the systems of oppression that led to your pain and suffering can alleviate the personal blame and is essential for healing for anyone with a marginalized identity.

  • Relational  External link

A strong connection between therapist and client directly influences the effectiveness of therapy! I focus greatly on getting to know my clients and building a foundation of trust. If there are moments of tension, it is important to me to model and practice trauma informed and healthy conflict resolution. I hope in our work together you will learn that conflict is not always scary, but an essential part of building stable, secure, healthy relationships.

  • Motivational Interviewing External link

Change is hard. Decisions are hard. This is especially true for anyone with anxiety, trauma, ADHD or Autism. I am trained in motivational interviewing which can assist in helping you make difficult decisions and build more confident with decision making overall.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • ADHD External link

ADHD is beautiful and misunderstood! I love working with folks with ADHD, especially women or queer identified folks who were diagnosed in adulthood. ADHD often molds people into creative, passionate, kind, justice-oriented people. Living with ADHD can be frustrating while navigating work life, school, relationships, and just living under capitalism. We can work together to understand how your ADHD shows up in your world - the beauty and the frustration.

  • Anxiety External link

"When did it begin running in the family to always want to run? When did we begin fearing everyone and everything around us? The world keeps telling me to run, keep running, keep numbing, keep forgetting." Anxiety can be powerful and impact someone's whole life and wellbeing. We can learn regulation skills, and also explore where anxiety comes from in your body, story, & possibly your family's story. This can be especially powerful for marginalized folks who have experienced oppression/trauma.

  • PTSD External link

I work with PSTD as well as Complex PTSD - the result of ongoing, repeated, or prolonged trauma. Trauma can be processed in many ways and I work to create a strong foundation of trust with clients before any deep trauma work. Trauma work can integrate somatic, narrative, and feminist approaches. My goal for trauma work is for clients to feel seen, validated, understand how their trauma impacts their current struggles, and to empower clients to find strength and meaning in their traumatic pasts.

  • Polyamorous and Open Relationships External link

Are you new to polyamory or ethical non-monogamy? Struggling with a certain relationship dynamic? Wanting a therapist who just understands and won't judge your relationships? Here I am! I love supporting folks with working on improving communication in all relationships and navigating polyamory/ENM requires a lot of communication AND creativity! We can be creative together in finding the relationship style or dynamic that works best for you.

  • Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) External link

PMDD shows up more with neurodivergent folks, and is also a misunderstood and serious condition. We can track your cycle and depressive symptoms and find ways to manage those symptoms. PMDD can be misdiagnosed for other fluctuating depressive disorders but is specific to hormone cycles and also often to neurodivergence.
