My Ideal Client

Too often, our neurodivergent community members are not able to find a therapist with the right training and skills to meet their unique needs. Access to specialized and effective mental health services is crucial for this population. For over 12 years, it has been my privilege to specialize in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), autism, ADHD, and other forms of neurodiversity. And I am always happy to work with any other clients in need of support.

My Approach to Helping

My approach emphasizes the importance of a strong and secure therapeutic relationship. Establishing a sense of trust, safety, and comfort with my clients is always the first step. I will collaborate with you to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your unique needs and goals. From there, I use a variety evidenced-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interview (MI), while striving to foster a casual and person-centered environment. As a relational therapist, you can expect me to show up for sessions as an authentic and genuine human being, as opposed to a cold and distant professional. This means that I don't shy away from sharing in the joy, laughter, and hardship involved in this work. Throughout our work together, my role is to give you the tools to manage anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, caregiver challenges, and other mental health issues. Let's work together to achieve your goals!

My Values as a Therapist

I am proud to call myself a lifelong Oregonian, husband and father, queer ally, anti-racist, and fierce disability rights advocate. My upbringing, education, and life experiences have instilled a deep sense of commitment to my local community. I have dedicated my career to improving the health and wellbeing of the neurodiverse community, and this has given my life immense meaning and gratification. For 12 years, I managed a Medicaid-funded program designed to help neurodivergent adults live their best, fullest lives. Countless times, my clients told me about their difficulty finding a therapist who "gets" them. Eventually, I decided that I wanted to be a part of the solution to this problem. My combination of mental health and disability service experience has given me the tools and expertise to support clients who feel that they have been left behind by the therapeutic profession. You are not alone! I am ready to be part of your team.
