My Ideal Client

Do you want to feel more connected and less triggered? Would you like to better understand your choices, emotions, and reactions? I help people feel grounded, enabling them to respond thoughtfully rather than impulsively. By reconnecting with themselves, individuals can become aware of their patterns and triggers. I educate people about the nervous system and its impact on mood, sleep, and interactions, guiding them to explore their internal world and the aspects that influence them.

My Approach to Helping

Working from a holistic approach that brings together body, mind, and spirit. I mix scientific and woo-woo perspectives to facilitate personal healing through mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches, creative arts therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic-based psychology, EFT tapping, hypnosis, EMDR, Havening, and acupressure. I enjoy educating clients about their nervous systems as a foundation for understanding their mental health symptoms. Then, with art, metaphor, and somatic therapy, clients can use the right side of their brain to find new ways of expression and understanding to attend to themselves more and build a better relationship with themselves. My goal in therapy is to help individuals become their guide to understanding themselves in a deeper and more meaningful way, so that they can feel the freedom of connecting with their authentic selves.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Everyone deserves to practice listening to and healing parts of themselves that may be hidden from them. I have navigated this personally and have often been the odd one in my family. I came out late as queer and did not identify as Trans/Non-Binary until about three years ago. I work well with individuals who struggle with their identity, are in transition, and need to build greater awareness, compassion, and clarity within themselves. I am part of both the sober community and the LGBTQ community. I am trained in six different trauma modalities: Art Therapy, EMDR, EFT, Hypnosis, Havening, and Self-Acupressure. I became an art therapist because I genuinely enjoy helping others learn to listen to themselves, understand their needs, and embrace their shadows, welcoming all parts of themselves, including the vulnerable and needy ones, as well as the mean and aggressive ones. I have a therapy dog, Remy, that works with me Monday through Thursday and he is just the sweetest.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Energy Psychology External link

I use energy psychology to help my clients to transform thought patterns and energy that are no longer serving them.

  • Mindfulness-based External link

Trained by Kristen Neff and Christopher Germer in Mindfulness Based self compassion. I help clients to learn how to use mindfulness to be more compassionate with themselves and the world.

  • Art Therapy External link

I use art therapy to help clients to externalize their problems so that they can have different perspective on them and to use the right side of the brain instead of the left. Through use of the art clients gai insights into their bodies and the unconscious process that occurs within them.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Historical Trauma External link

If you have historical trauma that continues to haunt you and you would like to work through it. Art therapy, EMDR, hypnosis, and energy medicine can be beneficial in addressing and releasing historical trauma. I work with my clients to create a safe space and give them tools to address old traumas in a kind and gentle way that respects their body, mind, and spirit.

  • Drug Dependence / Abuse / Addiction External link

If you are having difficulty with addiction, I have helped many clients to work on having and maintaining sobriety. I can help you to address underlying issues that may be causing relapse and abuse. If you are willing to take a look at harm reduction and eventually sobriety, then I can help you with your process.

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

I wrote my thesis on integrating sexual and cultural identities for Latina Lesbians. I was trained at the LA LGBTQ Center. I am also queer, so I understand the challenges of being LGTBQ. Whether you are struggling with coming out, dealing with internalized heterosexism, needing support for your transition, or just needing support, I can help you.

  • Codependency External link

If you have difficulty with control issues, wanting things to be a certain way, and needing to be perfect, you may struggle with codependency. I have worked with and helped many clients find freedom from this pattern. I helped them feel more fulfilled in their lives by learning to focus on themselves instead of others.

  • Anxiety External link

I love to help individuals who are having difficulty resolving anxiety and trauma. I help clients to reinhabit their bodies and help clients to change thought patterns and move energy that is stuck.
