My Ideal Client

My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings and reach your goals. I specialize in helping people manage life’s challenges, with a focus on: - Healing from difficult experiences (Trauma-informed care): I understand how past events affect the present and work with you to feel safe and secure. - Understanding you (Culturally responsive): I honor your background, identity, and unique life story. - Mindfulness: I support your ability to be fully present.

My Approach to Helping

My Methods I use practical tools to help you change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, including: - CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): Changing how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect. - DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy): Learning to accept yourself while also changing behaviors to build a better life. - Understanding your story (Psychoanalytically Informed): Looking deeper into unconscious reasons for your feelings. Goal-Focused Therapy: I help you identify your personal goals and create a plan to reach them. We will work together to identify your "triggers" (what causes stress) and learn coping skills to move more easily through the world. I believe in strengths-based therapy, which means we focus on what you are good at to help you succeed.

Why I am a Good Fit for You

Hello! I have been working with diverse populations in Portland for nearly 20 years. My experience is rooted in helping young people identify their strengths and meet their goals. My Background: I have an extensive history working with adolescents, young adults, and families, which helps me understand the pressures young people face. I have received specialized training in: - Trauma-informed care: Creating safety for healing. - Collaborative Problem Solving: Working with you, not against you, to solve issues. - Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Tools for emotion regulation. I am passionate about helping adolescents and young adults find their footing in a complex world. I offer a compassionate, down-to-earth, and honest approach to therapy. When I am not working, I love exploring the Pacific Northwest. You can usually find me bikepacking, backpacking, or hiking through nature.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety is your mind's way of trying to protect you, sometimes a little too hard. Whether you're experiencing racing thoughts or avoidance, I start by listening. Together, we'll identify your triggers and how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors feed each other. Using CBT, you'll learn to test anxious thoughts, while DBT skills and mindfulness help you calm your body and stay present. At a pace that feels safe, you'll build a personal toolkit so anxiety stops making your decisions.

  • Depression External link

Depression can make everything feel heavy, flat, or pointless, and it's not a weakness or something you can simply push through. I start by listening without judgment. Together, we'll explore what's keeping you stuck, using CBT to shift unhelpful thought patterns, DBT skills to manage overwhelming emotions, and small, doable steps to rebuild motivation. We'll draw on your strengths and set goals that matter to you, so you can reconnect with yourself, others, and the things you enjoy.
