My Ideal Client

Are you struggling with worry and stress that feels overwhelming? Have you had traumatic or abusive experiences that are still affecting your life? Do you have physical symptoms that are triggered by too much stress? Do you want to work through a difficult relationship or experience in order to restore trust and joy? I work with many clients dealing with these and many other issues, and I believe I can help you, too.

How I Can Help You

I take 3-6 sessions assessing individual or family clients to get an in-depth understanding of what you are experiencing. If we together decide to continue working together, I then help clients begin to gain both insight and skills regarding their mental health and behaviors, in order to empower you to understand yourself and your relationships more clearly and then take concrete steps to control what you can and improve your wellbeing with a lot of support along the way!

Why I Became a Therapist

I have benefited so deeply from my own therapy, as well as becoming more aware and educated about mental health and the ways my own feelings, thoughts and actions impact myself and others. Because I have found great meaning and have benefited from therapy, I am passionate about working with clients like you to help you carve your own path towards healing and thriving in your mind, body and relationships. I also believe that quality mental health care is a human right, and I am passionate about making therapy affordable and accessible to all.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Family Therapy External link

I work with individuals, couples and families to understand and improve relationships. This can be with an adult client's family of origin as they work through anxiety or depression, a couple wanting to improve their communication, a teenager and their caregiver struggling to find common ground, a parent seeking to work through their own traumatic experiences in order to improve their relationships, and many more!

  • Eclectic External link

I practice Restoration Therapy, which is a newer theory that combines mindfulness, attachment, experiential interventions and behavior change. Restoration Therapy is also highly influenced by Narrative, Internal Family Systems, EMDR and Contextual Family Therapy.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety speeds us up! Mindfulness can help slow the process down and help us make wiser decisions about how to move forward. I work with many clients in both individual, family and group therapy to address anxiety using the latest developments in mindfulness.

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

I have greatly benefited from couples and family therapy, and have been trained extensively in the Restoration Model, which assists couples (and all clients!) to identify the source of their fight/flight responses, and then empower themselves to act in more loving and trustworthy ways towards those they care about (including ourselves!).

  • Chronic Pain or Illness External link

As someone who lives with an autoimmune disorder, I have spent the last 4 years educating myself on the connection between our mental health (anxiety, depression, brain fog, lack of motivation, etc) and our physical health and gut health. I often work with clients in partnership with medical professionals to address the mental health side of chronic illness: learning to control what you can, reduce stress, improve nutrition and prioritize a regulated nervous system to increase wellbeing.

  • Historical Trauma External link

The effects of trauma can reverberate down the generations. Additionally, secondary trauma can have similar effects as first-hand trauma or chronic stress. As the son of a combat veteran, I am passionate about helping clients identify ways in which their own traumatic experiences (or those of their loved ones) are impacting their mental health. As we learn to heal from trauma, our relationships and personal wellbeing will be positively impacted as well.
