My Ideal Client

Being able to engage in relationships and experience love without the past trauma effecting you. Enjoying time with your family and friends, not constantly worried about work. Actually, allowing yourself to take that beach vacation and not feeling guilty about it. No longer being defined by your past, instead sharing it with others to pay it forward and help them. This life that's waiting for you, the life that's possible for you. If it was possible for me to achieve, then it's possible for you!

My Approach to Helping

I was so afraid to start my own counseling journey. I delayed for so long. So, I get it. It's a personal decision on when to start. I honor that. All i can say is that starting counseling is one of the best decisions that I have ever made. P.S. counseling can have some fun and laughter with it, and I like to focus on that too! I help individuals struggling with anxiety I feel overwhelmed and can't stay present or focused on the things that's most important to them. I also help individuals to break free from their trauma responses which impact their ability to receive and experience love. Ryan is currently practicing under the supervision of Doug Chapman, LMHC (LH0006800)

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a human being just like you. I don't claim to have life completely figured out, and if you find a counselor that does, please let me know so that I can make them my counselor! What I can say is that I've hit rock bottom, more than once, and for my own counseling and my own healing journey I learned how to pick myself back up and create a life that at that time I never could have imagined was possible for me. I have sense committed the rest of my life, to helping other people do the same. Counseling isn't easy, but it also doesn't have to be ridiculously overwhelming, dry, and constantly painful. Healing can involve laughter just as much as it involves tears, and I embrace both in the counseling sessions.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Holistic External link

I bring with me to our counseling sessions over a decade of experience working in the health and Wellness industry. I have help people change their life through making changes and their physical health and Wellness, and I integrate this holistic approach into the work that I do as a clinical mental health counselor. The mind and the body are intimately connected, and I approach counseling in a holistic way, to help you make lasting change in your life.

  • Motivational Interviewing External link

As an expert in helping people to be able to facilitate change in their life, I extensively utilize aspects of motivational interviewing in order to empower individuals to take responsibility for making a change in their life, and helping them to understand the part of themselves that is struggling to commit to making the change.

  • Addiction Therapy External link

I have worked through my own addiction issues, and it was through my own healing that I learned so much about the root causes of addiction. I don’t focus on treating the “what” and instead focus on the “why?” You can't change the fruit until you change the root. Helping people truly overcome addiction means truly getting to the root cause of the problem and making a change there.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

I have published multiple books on the topic of mindset shifts and on personal development. I call on my deep understanding of various aspects of what is important to the change process. This includes, neurolinguistic programming, hypnotherapy, neurobiology, the conscious and subconscious mind, and incorporate both eastern and western philosophies as it relates to how the mind is defined and described to work.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • PTSD External link

As a certified trauma professional I have extensive experience both professionally and personally as it relates to helping individuals work through and heal from they are PTSD diagnosis. Carrying the weight of deep trauma can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to define our lives. We possess the ability to transform our pain and use our experiences to fuel our growth and become a better version of ourselves.

  • Anxiety External link

"We have to FEEL it to HEAL it." I truly believe that one of the hardest things to do in life is really sit with our feelings. That's why addiction, which can take many forms besides just drugs and alcohol, can take such a strong grip over our lives. Sitting with our emotions and feelings and truly acknowledging them, can be scary, overwhelming, and can almost feel like it's magnifying the feelings more then helping us to release them
