My Approach to Helping

I offer a risk free, straight forward, common sense approach to helping. I am humbled and grateful to sit with anyone who comes in looking for help and support. The primary focus of my work is on the client-therapist relationship. The client-therapist relationship is designed to facilitate emotional, cognitive, and spiritual growth through open dialogue, and self exploration. My ability to meet your need to feel safe and cared for is what matters most. I approach our working relationship with genuineness, non-judgement, and unconditional positive regard for you and your well being. In our work together I guide you through solution-focused approaches to problems, and explore opportunities to achieve growth through emotional correction.

Why I am a Good Fit for You

I approach every client as someone who is seeking care, trust, a sense of belonging, and guidance. In our sessions I offer personal connection, validation, acceptance, and genuine empathy. I believe that as a client you have your own inner wisdom. My job is to help you access that wisdom to find relief from the challenges and problems you face. In our work together I'll help you discover your personal strengths, and develop adaptations for your current limitations. To find out if I'm a good fit for you, contact me for a risk-free, no cost, in person or online consultation. Regardless of your circumstances, I’m here to help you find relief, and achieve your goals.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Eclectic External link

My primary approach is psychodynamic, (a form of talk therapy that explores thoughts and feelings to understand their impact on present day behavior and relationships.) I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Marriage and Family theory, and methods specific to the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Autism External link

Since 2013 it has given me great joy to work closely with teens and adults on the Autism Spectrum. I train and research specifically to provide personal, relational, and vocational support for people identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder. If you, a family member, or friend, have a need for safe, nurturing support for issues related to Autism Spectrum Disorder, please contact me.

  • Anxiety External link

We all have anxiety. Anxiety can be painful and debilitating. It can also be our best teacher and help keep us safe. One of the most important skills we can learn is how to listen to our anxiety, and respond in effective self soothing ways. In this way we can limit the negative impacts and increase our creativity. I have focused on developing a broad range of treatments for anxiety, and the accompanying issues. I empathize a safe, creative, nonjudgmental approach to anxiety reduction.

  • Child or Adolescent Issues External link

The care and protection of children and adolescents has been my lifelong work. My background includes thirty eight years of working with children and families in different settings. I have worked with children, and their families in both public and private agencies, schools, clinics, and refugee camps. In addition to my experience, my formal training includes graduate level courses, trainings, and work with noted mentors.
