My Approach

My style is warm and collaborative. As an existential-humanistic counselor, I believe that exploring meaning and authentic self-expression contribute to fulfillment and a sense of well-being. My intention is to create a space where clients can receive support and mindfully address whatever aspects of their life may need attention and healing.

My Background

I hold a Masters Degree in Counseling from Seattle University . During graduate school, I facilitated groups and provided individual patient support while working at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. After finishing graduate school, I worked at an intensive outpatient program for people experiencing addiction and mental illness. I am also a yoga instructor and one of my research interests in graduate school was looking at the therapeutic effects of yoga on mental health. I believe that yoga can be an effective tool to support people in connecting with and grounding in their bodies. I opened my private practice here in Portland in 2013 and have since developed an interest in treating trauma. In February, 2015 I completed the EMDR Basic training and have been incorporating EMDR into my practice since then.
