Our Ideal Client

Rebel Heart Therapy is for people who feel like outsiders in mainstream spaces—LGBTQIA+ adults and teens, polyamorous or kinky folks, neurodivergent creatives, sex workers, and more. If you’ve ever felt like you don’t belong… you’re already seen here. We specialize in affirming, trauma-informed care that celebrates complexity and honors the full, authentic you—no shrinking, no shame, no pretending. Come as you are—we’re ready when you are.

Our Approach to Helping

At Rebel Heart Therapy, we offer trauma-informed, affirming care rooted in curiosity, consent, and cultural humility. Our practice is co-led by Morgan Fitz Gibbon and Tamara Werner-Fitz Gibbon—queer, genderqueer clinicians, supervisors, and partners who live within many of the same communities we serve. Our diverse team brings both lived experience and clinical expertise to their work: • Anthony Foster – Figuring out who you are and what you want • Matt Livengood – Existential depth and meaning-making • Emily Day – Trauma healing and life transitions • Jenner Warren – Polyamory and nontraditional relationships • Lida Rubanava – Serving those excluded by traditional systems • Malik Campbell – ADHD and relational overwhelm • Ollie Denney – Identity exploration and self-discovery • Irene Paul – Clinical Director; substance use and integrated care We meet you with warmth, honesty, and respect for your full humanity.

Our Values as Mental Health Practitioners

AUTHENTICITY At the heart of our practice, we embrace our true selves, create a space for clients to explore and affirm their identities, and foster a supportive environment for queer mental health and well-being. QUEER-AFFIRMING SPACE We are committed to being a practice where LGBTQIA+ identities are celebrated, nurtured, and prioritized—for both clients and staff. CURIOSITY We approach each client’s journey with openness and a desire to learn, honoring their lived expertise and welcoming complexity with care and respect. LEARNING We are lifelong learners, evolving through ongoing training and reflection to meet the diverse, changing needs of our community. AWARENESS We actively explore our own identities and social locations to diminish bias, deepen empathy, and offer culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. TEAMWORK Our team thrives on mutual respect, trust, and collaboration—working together with the intention to provide exceptional support to every client.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Cultural Congruence External link

Our clinicians are trained in anti-oppressive, culturally responsive care and bring lived experience from the communities we serve. We consider the client’s intersecting identities, cultural background, and relationship to systemic oppression in every aspect of our work. These topics are core to our case consultations and supervision culture, and this lens shapes how we show up in the therapy room.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) External link

Many of our clinicians integrate IFS-informed therapy to help clients connect with their internal parts with compassion and curiosity. We use IFS to support healing from trauma, identity fragmentation, and shame. This model aligns deeply with our affirming, non-pathologizing approach and is regularly explored in supervision and consultation.

  • Humanistic  External link

We offer therapy grounded in authenticity, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. Humanistic values are central to how we build relationships with clients and trust their inner wisdom. We approach each client as the expert in their own life and prioritize collaboration, presence, and depth over diagnostic labels or fix-it models.

  • Holistic External link

We see clients as whole people—not just a set of symptoms. Our clinicians consider mind, body, relationships, identity, culture, and nervous system in their work. We integrate trauma-informed, strengths-based, and contextual approaches to healing that honor the full human experience. Many of our therapists also have training in somatics, mindfulness, or body awareness work.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

We specialize in therapy for queer, trans, nonbinary, and questioning adults and teens. As LGBTQIA+ clinicians, we offer affirming care grounded in lived experience. We support clients navigating coming out, identity development, relationships, discrimination, trauma, internalized shame, gender euphoria, medical gatekeeping, chosen family, spiritual harm, and surviving systems built to erase us. You won’t have to explain who you are—we already get it, and we celebrate every part of you.

  • Gender Identity External link

Our founder, Morgan, has worked with trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive clients since 2013, and Rebel Heart Therapy has centered this work since 2018. Many of our clinicians identify as genderqueer, trans, or nonbinary and bring lived experience, formal training, and deep cultural humility to their work. We approach gender with openness and respect, and we regularly consult on gender identity in group and individual supervision.

  • Cultural and Systemic Oppression External link

Rebel Heart Therapy has centered marginalized clients since we opened our doors. We understand how systemic oppression—including racism, fatphobia, ableism, classism, xenophobia, and queerphobia—impacts mental health. Many of our clinicians hold lived experience with these systems and bring deep awareness to the therapeutic space. We address anti-oppressive care and consult on systemic trauma in group and individual supervision to ensure accountability, depth, and cultural responsiveness.

  • PTSD External link

We work with trauma in all its forms—developmental, identity-based, systemic, and relational. Many of our clients have experienced trauma from rejection, discrimination, violence, or chronic marginalization. We provide trauma-informed care grounded in trust, collaboration, and empowerment. Our goal is to support you in reclaiming your story, reconnecting with your body, and restoring a sense of safety and self-worth.

  • Polyamorous and Open Relationships External link

We support clients in consensual non-monogamy, polyamory, and other nontraditional relationships. Whether you’re exploring new dynamics, processing jealousy, healing from rupture, or navigating community stigma, we bring affirming, experienced care. Many of our clinicians understand ENM from lived experience and offer a space free from shame, pathologizing, or assumption—where your values and relationships are respected.
