My Ideal Client

“Just when the caterpillar thought its life was over, it became a butterfly.” – Zhuangzi. I specialize in Trauma Recovery, Anxiety, Depression, Eating Disorders, Grief and Loss, coping with Miscarriage and Infertility, Life Transitions, Self Esteem, and helping those who still feel stuck even though they’ve “tried everything”. No matter how dark your life has been, there is a light inside you that can guide you to peace. I help clients attune to and follow its wisdom.

My Approach to Helping

I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I am a Registered Associate Counselor #R9203, and operate under the supervision of Carla McGhee, LPC-C5201 and Sarah Tedrick, LPC-C5821. I specialized in Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma Recovery, and mood disorders including Depression and Anxiety during my coursework. I took additional courses on Motivational Interviewing and Restoration Therapy during my Internship. I am currently enrolled in the Somatic Experiencing certification program. Previous to my Master’s I was a Somatic Re-Education Therapist, a bodywork technique that helps release trauma from the nervous system that is similar to Somatic Experiencing. From 2009 – 2016 I trained Mindfulness intensively under a spiritual teacher, which gave me many tools for creating a wholly new life experience that I share with my clients.

Why I Became a Therapist

I started out as a massage therapist in the early 2000s. It quickly became evident that much of the tension people carry in their bodies is related to stress and trauma in their lives. Feeling called to work with clients on a deeper level, I started training in a bodywork technique called Somatic Re-Education Therapy, which supports physical recovery by addressing root mental and emotional causes. The COVID shutdown caused my clients to shift to virtual sessions, at which point the counseling aspect of my work became more overt and the energy healing aspect less so. It felt right to get my Master’s in Counseling to both deepen and broaden my service. Outside of work I practice Qi Gong and Yoga regularly, meditate, and enjoy time in nature. I'm a practicing Taoist and connect well with clients who are inclined towards a spiritual path.
