My Ideal Client

Are you a new parent, have experienced a pregnancy loss or are struggling to become a parent? I understand the importance of finding someone to support you in these important times of transition. I have also spent significant time supporting people while they try to heal their relationship with food. I believe food and mood are often in a symbiotic relationship and learning how to support both your body and mind can lead to significant healing.

What I Specialize In

I believe in creating a warm, collaborative, safe space for clients to explore the challenges keeping them from living their life to its fullest. I tailor my clinical approach to the needs of the client. My areas of focus include: postpartum issues, stress, anxiety, life/work balance, parenting, divorce, co-parenting, nutrition, healing your relationship with food and depression.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas with a Specialization in Child and Family Services and am a Certified Holistic Nutritionist. Before opening a private practice, I worked in community mental health with young children and their families. I have received a certificate from the 2020 Mom's Project in Postpartum mental health and am also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. Since food has such a profound impact on how a person feels, I often find my training as a Holistic Nutritionist becomes a valuable part of the treatment.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Women's Issues External link

I know that being a woman and mom comes with many challenges. I complete the 2020 Mom's Project certificate training for Postpartum Mental Health so I can help women adjust to motherhood. I also recognize the expectations placed on women around their bodies, food and weight. My combined training as a Nutritionist, LCSW and Certification as an Intuitive Eating Counselor help guide my practice.

  • Parenting External link

I believe a strong parental unit is the key to having a strong family. I have spent many years helping families learn the skills necessary to communicate effectively with one another.

  • Child or Adolescent Issues External link

I have over ten years experience working with children and their families around abuse, neglect, ADHD, anxiety, school issues and family conflict. Over the years, I have attended many trainings focusing on these issues.

  • Anxiety External link

Sometimes life can be overwhelming. I help clients learn tools to cope with feelings of panic, anxiety and stress. I believe using food, mindfulness and cognitive techniques can be helpful in conquering anxiety.
