My Ideal Client

I love my work as a Therapist, and find that I work well with many different issues that you may be struggling with, including issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, mood swings, self-worth, codependency, marital, interpersonal/relational dynamics, women's issues, adoption issues, cultural, transracial, and racial identity issues, family conflict, domestic violence, and spiritual issues, including death and dying.

My Approach to Helping

I value a collaborative approach to therapy, that allows for clients' strengths and wisdom to unfold, and be heard. We'll start with what's current in your life, and find ways you can improve your sense of control around your thoughts, emotions, and body. I draw upon many different evidenced-based therapies such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, DBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Mindful-based philosophies that address the root cause of your pain or struggles, vs. just treating the symptoms. I am solution and compassion focused, and approach treatment from a non-judgmental awareness of how we got to where are. I engage in, and appreciate ongoing professional development training regularly, in order to constantly improve my skills set, and support system.

Why I Became a Therapist

Becoming a Therapist is something I was meant to do from an early age. Because my own multi-generational family system was often challenging and painful, it gave me the opportunity to learn first hand, what many of my clients experience also. Without these early challenges, I could not be as complete, compassionate, self-aware, self-forgiving, self-loving, self-expansive, or as self-evolving as a therapist, or person, as my healing journey has allowed. I love what I do, and I value the opportunities that the difficult experiences in life, provide us. The human condition is not easy, no matter what the grass may look like on the other side. Growth, wisdom, and inner healing can only arise out of the ashes, and from these ashes come the seeds of rebirth, and life itself. The field of psychology and therapy have come such a long way, and it is a very exciting time to be a therapist. Never before has treatment been so cutting edge, effective, and had so much research to back it up.
