My Ideal Client

If you are tired of saying "I know it, but I don't feel it", you may be looking for experiential therapy. Many methods of counseling work issues from the "top-down" (i.e. moving from our thinking experience "down" to our feelings). When that method hasn't entirely worked for you, you may benefit from a "bottom-up" approach, where we re-organize our feeling experience and then focus on our thinking, rather than focusing on thinking first. In trauma work, the felt experience guides healing.

My Approach to Helping

I strive to make the process as experiential and whole person integrative as possible to make change and healing as easy as possible. Customization and collaboration are important since you are the expert on you. When people have experienced traumas, EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (developed from Hakomi) are effective and gentle ways to process and resolve those experiences. Even if talking about the events is difficult, they can be dealt with using mind-body integration. I am also Certified in Trauma-Informed Stabilization Therapy (an Internal Family systems {IFS} based method that incorporates mindfulness & somatic awareness, too). If you've been afraid to address the past or feel like you're just managing symptoms instead of living life fully, this work may be for you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I use many modalities to support my clients' self-healing in a gentle, self-paced manner. My training includes: * Trauma-Informed Stabilization Therapy - an IFS based modality that uses mindfulness and somatic awareness, too * EMDR Level 1 and 2, * IFS-Informed EMDR Level 1 and 2 * Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Levels 1 & 2 (somatic AKA mind-body integration), * Hypnotherapy * Interpersonal Neurobiology * Mindfulness * IFS ***For the time being, all services are offered in an online format only***

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • EMDR External link

I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 training and am in consultation towards certification.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) External link

My IFS-based training is through Trauma-Informed Stabilization Therapy, designed by Janina Fisher, PhD, who says: “TIST...was developed to provide a trauma-informed approach to the challenges of treating self-destructive behavior. Based on theoretical principles drawn from the neuroscience research on trauma and structural dissociation theory, TIST offers a treatment approach that integrates mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I an certified in TIST.

  • Mindfulness-based External link

I have numerous trainings in mindfulness based modalities including DBT, MBSR, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Additionally, have practiced meditation for over 30 years.

  • Sensorimotor External link

I have completed certificates for Levels 1 (trauma & emotional regulation) & 2 (relationship and attachment issues). Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (originated by Pat Ogden), has its roots in Hakomi and incorporates neuroscience.

  • Hypnotherapy External link

I have advanced training from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and some affiliates in acute pain, surgery preparation and supporting medical recoveries. Most services will require a consultation with your medical provider.
