My Ideal Client

Somatic therapy is effective for those who have found limitations in other types of care & support. This work is for those who are looking to get to the root of their imbalances and discomforts, who are seeking long-term solutions over temporary reliefs. I am particularly passionate about supporting: queer & trans clients; neurocomplex clients; folks experiencing all levels of anxiety, from mild to severe; those in recovery from substance use disorder or process addiction.

My Approach to Helping

I believe that we heal in community and we heal by connecting with our bodies. As we get away from the stories that we tell ourselves and the stories that others have told us about who we are, we are able to meet ourselves in the present.  Together, we co-create a therapeutic environment in which we both bring our full human selves to create a space where you can explore within, learn new tools, and practice new behaviors or habits. Our sessions are intended to be a laboratory for discovery in a non-judgmental setting. Wherever you are in your journey, my role is to meet you there with compassion and non-judgment.  In session, we incorporate breath and somatic practices, mindfulness and meditation, movement, and reflection. We use these tools to build the right supports for you in and out of session, with the goal of equipping you with ways to settle yourself, return to yourself, and increase your capacity for handling daily life.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

I have 1000 hours of training in applied relaxation techniques, cognitive reframing, behavioral modifications, breath regulation, mindfulness of sensory input, & downregulation. I offer in-session and out-of-session support for folks living with significant anxiety. In-session, we work on somatic techniques and our therapeutic relationship. Out-of-session, we can collaborate on things like making/attending medical appointments or moving through high-stress experiences out in the world together.

  • Autism External link

Embodiment practices are scientifically proven to increase proprioception and interoception directly correlating to an increased understanding of self and our responses to our environments. I have experienced this as a neurocomplex human and through years of working with neurocomplex clients. Somatic and embodiment practices are effective tools for neurocomplex people to create intentional communication pathways between subtle and physical bodies.
