My Approach to Helping

I'm committed to the sacred process of finding and living your most authentic Self in whatever stage of life you may be in. I believe in you, I believe you have a story that deserves to be heard and I believe you have a deep intelligence within you that can help guide you towards well-being. It is my passion to help you understand, accept (maybe even love!) and learn to trust yourself. Our work together centers on safety, collaboration and inclusion and I believe in meeting you where you're at without judgement or bias and keeping it compassionately reaI. I bring over a decade of experience as a LMT specializing in nervous system regulation. Like our bodies, therapy isn't "one size fits all" and I have many tools to draw on to help. I have experience in treating eating disorders and trauma. I am a certified Somatic EMDR provider, am becoming a certified Body Trust provider and have additional training in Internal Family Systems and Somatic Psychotherapy.

My Values as a Therapist

I'm a HAES aligned, identity-affirming therapist who welcomes all clients including LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, disabled, BIPOC, and poly folks. You deserve care that can hold space for your whole self, where all parts of you are welcome. I also acknowledge the many current oppressive systems in power. Sometimes an important part of our work will be to investigate these systems and how they have infiltrated your sense of self, worth and safety. I also strive to keep any inherent power imbalances between us in check by practicing humility towards this process and keeping you centered as the expert of your experience. I'm a life long learner and committed to my own personal growth. I believe in walking the talk, I've seen the power that the right fit of therapy and therapist can do and I consider it a privilege to be able to pay that forward with others.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Eating Disorder External link

I've trained in and worked with teens and adults struggling with eating disorders along with competency training working with those who are LGBTQ+ or neurodivergent. I currently work with those that have a history of an eating disorder and are in the maintenance phase of their recovery or those with intrusive disordered eating. I also offer support for parents, family and partners of those with an eating disorder.

  • PTSD External link

I am a certified Somatic EMDR provider and have completed an extensive training program in healing trauma that included Polyvagal Theory, Embodiment, Compassionate Mind Training, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Abolitionism, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. I understand the difference between PTSD and CPTSD (complex trauma) and how to approach both as well as have lived experience healing from past trauma.

  • Aging Concerns External link

Having worked with teens (14+) up to elders, I understand that transitioning through different life stages greatly impact our mental health. I particularly understand the effects aging has on women's bodies as well as how mid-life presents us all with an opportunity to confront our mortality that can feel both disruptive and also potentially transformational.

  • Spirituality External link

I have lived experience with a variety of spiritual and religious environments as well as professional experience and training. I understand the very personal process of spiritual exploration and identity. I hold a wide space for accepting how this shows up for you (or doesn't) and how you may want to bring that into our work together. I am also cognizant in understanding the harm that can come from spiritual organizations and how to regain your sense of self outside of these experiences.

  • Parenting External link

I work with caregiver burnout, sensory overwhelm, changing generational parenting patterns, addressing intrusive trauma that affects parenting, parenting children with an eating disorder or who is neurodivergent, and loss of sense of self as a new parent. In addition I also work with women navigating divorce and co parenting. Alongside the challenges, I help parents accept the messiness and reality of parenting while finding realistic self care and celebrating the many joys and rewards.
