My Ideal Client

Overall, my goal as a trauma-informed and person-centered therapist is to help you move through life in ways that feel more aligned with your deepest sense of self. I enjoy collaborating with folks on issues like processing life transitions, anxiety, depression, feelings of low self-worth, perfectionism, relationship dynamics, and patterns of shame. My clients also tend to have a history of complex or developmental trauma and want to find relief from years of reliving old, painful patterns.

My Approach to Helping

My approach to counseling starts with a belief that healing happens within a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental relationship. I hope to create a space to process overwhelming experiences in order to help you gain more clarity and move forward with new skills and a sense of empowerment in your life. From a somatic perspective, I believe the body and the mind are intimately linked and I safely incorporate body-centered trauma processing tools as a path towards finding deeper peace and stability. I also believe that systems play an important role in our experience and should be taken into account when treating mental health; these systems can include culture, institutions, community, family, intimate relationships and more. Lastly, and importantly, my approach to counseling is not one of being an "expert", but my goal is to help you discover your own inherent wisdom.

Why I Became a Therapist

I believe in the power of relationships and know firsthand how supportive a trusting, safe therapeutic relationship can be. I became a therapist because of my own journey of self-growth and healing through therapy and I wholeheartedly believe people are so much more than their struggles. I am dedicated to helping folks see and feel their innate goodness, beyond their past experiences, and lean into the potential for a life of ease and wholeness. I also became a therapist because I believe that healing as an individual can ripple out and help heal the collective in which we are all apart of, and which we all play a role.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • PTSD External link

Using trauma processing tools, I'll support you in making transformational shifts in your experience. I am trained in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) - which is a clinically-proven approach to help folks recover from trauma. I also incorporate Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a holistic and gentle approach to working with trauma using body-based processing.

  • Anxiety External link

I like to approach anxiety as an overactive alarm system in the brain and body. By processing the signals deeply felt in the body and nervous system, sometimes even before they turn into thoughts, folks can gain more clarity and achieve a felt sense of "safe enough". I will also help provide tools in order to help you navigate your nervous system and lead a more balanced life.

  • Depression External link

Depression is often misunderstood and talk therapy alone doesn't often yield the results folks are hoping for. The felt sense of "stuckness" that comes with depression can be a deeper rooted issue, not living in beliefs alone but in chronic patterns of activation, operating below the level of thinking. I use gentle, bottom-up approaches to help process these patterns.
