My Ideal Client

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders and borderline personality disorder. I think that the mind-body connection is essential, both in expressing desire and maintain lifelong health. I am excited to work with people who want to explore relationships, sexuality and deeper meaning. Your journey is unique and I am grateful to anyone who is willing to grow and share in that journey with me. I am open to provide supervision to LPC interns as well.

My Approach to Helping

People show up to therapy in various stages of change, and the only way to facilitate that is through meeting client's where they are at. The importance of mind-body connection is so often forgotten, and my passion is awakening this essential element of life to help people reconnect with themselves and their community. I believe sensuality and exploration of desire is essential to the full expression of who we are as human beings. I received my Master's of Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC), Certified Sex Therapist (CST) and a certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADCIII). I am also formally trained in DBT and have extensive training in substance use disorders. I am also accepting LPC interns for supervision

Why I Became a Therapist

I began this journey wanting to provide sex therapy and start a sexuality resource center. My path diverged from this into addictions, where I have seen all the same challenges and questions arise in terms of our physical and emotional wellbeing. I have seen how sexual trauma shows up in many different areas of life, how negative coping skills can destroy our hopes and how people have endless capacity to heal. I am excited to rejoin the path to provide therapy to those seeking a deeper understanding of their relationships, their sexuality and their desires. This may include addressing past trauma, relationship difficulties and negative sense self. Whatever it is that is creating barriers for you, I am ready to start that journey with you! I know that there is a huge gap in understanding when it comes to kink and non-monogamy and because of that I am particularly passionate about providing a safe space for people to process without having to educate or feel judged.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Couples Counseling External link

I work closely with couples and beyond to help support them in navigating conflict resolution, infidelity, communication issues, intimacy and sexuality difficulties and more. I am a trained sex therapist.

  • Nonviolent Communication External link

I believe deeply in the power of communication and use Nonviolent Communication as the base of much of the couples work that I do.

  • Mindfulness-based External link

Awareness in the present moment is key for movement toward change. Mindfulness has been the single most important concept I have learned and given to others throughout my time as a therapist and a yoga instructor.

  • Gottman Method External link

I am trained at Level 1 in Gottman techniques.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) External link

I am formally trained in DBT and worked in a DBT intensive program.
