My Background and Approach

I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship: the healing power of empathy, acceptance and caring. I believe everyone holds within themselves the capacity to work through challenges given a facilitative environment responsive to their interpersonal and developmental needs. I hold a Master’s degree in Couple, Marriage and Family Counseling from Portland State University along with special training in Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Child-centered Play Therapy (CCPT), in Child-parent Relationship Training (CPRT), and with the Mindful Experiential Therapy Approaches (M.E.T.A.) Clinic. Currently a registered intern with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT), I am supervised by Dr. Kimberly Jayne, PhD, LPC, RPT-S, CCPT-S.

Techniques I Use

  • Play Therapy  External link

Play is kids’ most natural form of communication. Toys are to kids what words are to adults. Play Therapy, like counseling for adults, lets kids express their feelings and process their experiences in order to develop more effective strategies for managing their worlds.

Issues I Treat

  • Parenting External link

With specialized training in Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), I support parents in understanding their children's behavior and learn to communicate love and boundaries in ways their children understand. This process is the foundation of a strong parent-child bond which leads to feelings of competency and satisfaction in parenting.

  • Child or Adolescent Issues External link

I have special training in child development, parenting support and Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), an evidence-based treatment approach for working with children ages 3-10. I have experience working with children, and their families, facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges, or life transitions.

  • Anxiety External link

In our fast-paced, social-media-saturated, and achievement-driven society many adults and children struggle with anxiety. I am passionate about helping both children and adults build trust in their capacity to navigate life's challenges.
