My Ideal Client

I connect most with those who, at their core, are exploring what it means to be human. Whether that means learning how your mind works, befriending your emotions, navigating societal expectations, or claiming ownership of your body, I want to support the path you walk. My specialties include eating disorders, body image work, identity exploration, LGBTQIA+ issues, relational and attachment wounds, trauma, and neurodivergence.

My Background and Approach

I have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from New Mexico State University, with a graduate minor in Integrative Behavioral Health. My career so far has taken me from school-based mental health, to adolescent behavioral intervention, to PHP/IOP eating disorder recovery. My truest specialty lies with eating disorders, including Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge-Eating Disorder, ARFID, and OSFED. I practice exclusively from a Body Trust and Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective, with the belief that all foods fit. My practice emphasizes a radical acceptance approach to the ups and downs of life. I often work with clients to practice leaning into discomfort rather than away and building a sense of internal trust and allyship. Sessions with me often involve exploring personal narratives, and gently dismantling the harmful self-criticism that we carry with us.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My belief system is rooted in the inherent potential for healing in people. I see harmful perspectives and behaviors as learned responses to the world around us, and I believe in the power of unlearning, deprogramming, and decolonizing these parts of ourselves. We are responsible for our personal choices, but our access to said choices is impacted by our social context. I do not compromise my allyship with the BIPOC and queer community, and part of my role as a therapist is to use my privilege to advocate. I will always try to conceptualize my clients at the micro level (e.g. the specific sensory experiences of your own body and mind), and the macro level (e.g. your sociocultural context and belief system). You will always know yourself more deeply than I will, but we can explore that knowledge together.
