My Ideal Client

It's easy in today's technology focused world to feel out of place, lost, or overwhelmed. I work with people who want to feel better than they do currently. They are interested in personal growth, identity, and want to engage in their community and contribute in a way that feels meaningful to them. They may be struggling to develop routines and meet their personal goals. My clients are typically people from marginalized communities who qualify for Medicaid, also called Oregon Health Plan.

My Background and Approach

I have a background in public health and 3+ years of experience working in the healthcare system as a counselor at a doctor's office doing brief, targeted interventions to help patients feel better quickly. I prefer to take a directive approach in therapy and to ask meaningful questions rather than to let you fill the empty space as the hour passes. I act as a guide and work together with my clients to help them see positive changes quickly. I have specialized experience working with the Trans and Queer communities, as well as people with chronic illness or health problems. I enjoy working with cis-men as well.

Why I Became a Therapist

-I became a therapist, frankly, because I love to talk to strangers. Talking is easy, so I went to school to learn the hard part of how to listen and give feedback in a meaningful and constructive way. -Most people are longing for some sort of connection and I believe that social connection is vital for mental wellness. My contribution to society is helping people through brief shared connections. -You may have heard of the concept of a "wounded healer". I have been in your position, on the couch or behind the screen talking to a therapist to learn more about myself and heal my internal narratives.
