Kaci Schmitt

Licensed Professional Counselor Intern

There are times in life where we can use an empathic, nonjudgmental listener who can remain present with us as we explore issues that are bothering us. If you are considering speaking with me as you explore your counseling options, you will be met with unconditional positive regard and empathy.

My Approach

I work with preteens, teenagers, and adults who are experiencing a variety of challenges, including difficulties in relationships, grief, indecision, anxiety, and depression, as well as searching for meaning, which I believe is an inherent part of the experience of being human. I utilize mindfulness-based approaches in my work, as I believe that it is through being able to truly know and be with ourselves that we can heal and uncover our truths. I draw from person-centered, narrative, and existential theories, among others, as I believe that we are in a continual process of discovering and creating the meaning in our own lives and that it is through fully accepting who we are that we can see our lives–past, present, and possible futures–clearly.

My Background

I received my Master of Science in Counseling from Oregon State University in 2017 and have taken subsequent graduate coursework at Portland State University. I have worked as a school counselor since 2016. I truly enjoy working with adolescents and adult individuals as they navigate challenges in their lives and seek to develop deeper insight into their own lives.
